Something I always wanted to do is to build a robot to wreck in Robot Wars, even set about building a couple but lack of funds ment I never really got anywhere
BUT I can build one for free and enter this contest instead
I've set about building my opponent, Hypno-Disc, an awesome beast that was entered over 6 seasons and caused a lot of damage when it was working right.
here's the fruits of my labour so far:

Hum, virtual Robot Wars in shared space?
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful servitude. -- Thomas Jefferson/Jean Jacques Rousseau
It would be intersting to see something online, movement wouldn't be that hard but the physics would be a bit complicated, when the above robot hit stuff it used to loss control totally
Flipper type robots would be a bit easier, or simple wedge shaped ones, as far as game creating goes probably flipping one over is the easy option and set some standard geometry requirements to get them to move and attack via a universal script?

Looking good nigec.. when I looked at that robot my first thought was wow, that looks like a little pizza oven on wheels. Just reduce the disk and slide it into the housing and voila!! Maybe when it's fighting days are over

Great!
I and my son has very fun time when looking at Robot-Wars. I have for a long time had a dream to build a robot and participate in the program. But there is also lack of time and perhaps money. Maybee there is parts at the junk yard.
Is it possible with a virtual robot wars?

I don't know about Truespace or Trueserve, but it is possible with some game engines
@tahnoak, yes I agree it does look like one of those!
here's the latest, the textures on the main body are miles to big , I'll have to rething those tomorrow, I've got quite a lot of tedious stuff to do to the disc, plus the texture for it and it has small wheel arches to do at the back

I kind of like the texture. Is there any given size for how big the pattern is for this kind of metal since you say it is to big? Perhaps simply resize it?

the scale should be the same size as the hood on top, it'll be easy enough to fix

Man, that looks great already and I have not even started anything yet (then again I am out of town with no way to do any modeling but still )

almost there, I just need to get the textures right for the disc and add the bolts, I've started on the next bot, that'll take a little longer as its my own design

nice render. I would like to see the disk turn with a psychedelic effect.
I can remember many a happy hour sat in front of the TV watching this robot tear apart the opposition. Great model and a superb render. Keep up the good work.
thanks, I like the series too, its a shame the BBC let it go, it was never quite the same after that
@ Marcel, I never intended to animate it, in Carrara the shader system is a lot different and i couldn't figure out how to get the layers right, to be honest I didn't try that hard

Nice job Nigec. Very nice render too.
I also like watching those shows. Would love to see one of those bots fitted with a 'surge unit'; when touched by another robot it zaps their servos rendering it dead in the water. They keep going for brute force (I especially like the 'slicer disc' concept myself)
