United 3D Artists Job Board

Post by Finis »

United 3D Artists Job Board
These positions need to be filled to keep U3DA running. They are the administrators of our various resources.

This post will be edited to reflect the status of the jobs.

To apply make a post in this thread. Applicants should be forum members who are available to act when needed.

Hopefully, there will be two people in each position so someone will be available when needed and to preserve access to the resource.

Most positions require little technical knowledge or experience but it helps to have it. Performance of a job’s duties usually consists of using a user interface(s) similar to the back end of Wordpress or Joomla or when you use the forum. These jobs only occasionally require action.

This is unpaid volunteer work. These “officers” do this in service to their fellow U3DA members.

Prodigy is still admin of everything and imo should be but he is busy with real life. So U3DA needs you to be admins. Besides, wouldn’t it be great if he could just visit, do a speed model, have some fun when he has time to be here?

Note from Finis: I’m not your daddy. I gained access to U3DA’s resources as an emergency action because of the malware/hack and to get new administrators into these jobs. It was not my intention to be admin of everything. I will resign from treasurer and admin stuff, maybe not host if needed, in a few months with or without new people in those jobs. You all have to “step up” and do these jobs if you want the forum to keep going. Most aren't difficult and might be fun!

Maybe you should move this thread to the General section so it's easier to find. The Members Only sub-section of the Off Topic section seems a little out of the way to me.

Maybe so Clintonman. I think this is not the business of non-member viewers so Members Only seems appropriate but it does need to be seen by potential applicants. Some members visit but don't log in often and might want the jobs if they saw this. What do you all think?

There probably should be a Members Only section in General for most stuff that is here now. This members only section is in off topic because I asked Prodigy for it for my far off topic lawn business thread.

@Clintonman: How about taking more of these admin jobs? You've got skills and were interested before. We really need host admins.

This might not work out well. I remember when Steinie was through being treasurer. There were many more active members then but no one would take the job. That's the only reason I became treasurer.

Sure, you can put me down for forum and host admin. Stan sent me a message about being the other forum admin, so I think he's in.

Edit: Removed the attachment. It was only a test of posting truespace format files.

I could do the Job 02: Main Site Admin
and: Host Admin

Clinton, I may very well call on you to get up to speed; it's been awhile since I have been here, and actually since I've written code. But it's like riding a bike.

We're moved in to the new house, got the kittens bailed outta prison (the Big House), etc. And I need some real world experience with website admin stuff. :ugeek:

I updated my email address as well. The old NetZero thing ... I rarely go there anymore. So anyway.

Talk soon!

Awesome. :bananathumb: Though we may need to help each other on the getting up to speed part. I haven't done much yet. Plan to make a backup this weekend and then try to rebuild the site from scratch locally and update the forum software. Any roadblocks will show me what I don't know before doing anything serious. Then finally perform real updates on the actual site.

Froo!

Making that test copy is a good idea Clintonman.

So I'm retired from that stuff now. More than enough expertise with you guys but I'll be happy to be a consultant if needed.

I moved my sites to InterServer. The process was easy and so far no trouble found. They moved my entire account. So if you want to rebuild the main site/front page before we move to InterServer they will move it all.
