I was looking at Shade 12 or 13. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it.

Re: Shade 12 or 13
Excellent software, lovely renderer. I own 7pro, and 8std, but never upgraded.
I would buy v13, however the standard version has a few caveats that I don't like, and the pro version is a bit too much money (for me).
The english version also has a troubled history and is used by very few people in the west (in Japan it is over 100,000), so you won't get much support from local gurus, books etc.
Shade is still my sentimental favourite (outside of ts 6.6), but I have other software now which is better supported and cheaper. Basically, I would say yes for features, especially if you want an end-to-end solution for archviz and illustration, but no for most everything else (support, exposure, training, fanbase). It's a shame shade never took off, it has a lot of potential, even considering the heavy competition in 3d these days.

Ah, somebody who knows how to work with Shade3d. Is there a way to navigate with keyboard and mouse input somehow? The only thing i have found to navigate are those tiny little symbols above the workspace. And that`s pretty cumbersome to work with

Re: Shade 12 or 13
I don't have shade loaded, but from memory you could pan with the space bar, and rotate the view with shift+space. Zoom was shift+z or middle mouse. This may be wrong, either because I'm thinking of another app, or shade has changed since I've used it.....
I never really liked the view controls in Shade, I've always preferred maya controls, personally.
There is a half-price sale for shade at the moment, I have to admit that $175 for shade std is very tempting, despite my bloated toy box.....

Hm, so you can also use Maya style hotkeys in Shade3D?

It did, but when in my versions the key combinations were a bit limited, from memory. Now, I think that they are a lot more flexible. I'm trying to get a trial license from Mirye for shade 13, I'll have a look at whether you can remap the view control keys when I get the approval.

Re: Shade 12 or 13
Shade is originally from Japan. It sold in English for a number of years in the 90s, then again under E Frontier America until that division was sold (parent company E Frontier in Japan did not sell Shade).
Since Shade 9, it has been published in English by Mirye Software in the USA. The current version is Shade 13.
There are a huge number of keyboard commands. Go to menu View > Shortcut to show the shortcuts menu.
