modern/luxury interior
hi, something kicked me up for a 3D again. Maybe Prodigy with his swiss building. So i started a project of my own, after a long time. I hope i will finish it. I realized that I dont have some high end interior, which as a proper 3D artists i should have.
So there is the first wip. No materials, pretty default lighting. It will be a room with a big plasma screen and balcony, some furniture, table and sofa. I hope it will come out well and that i can still make it :)

Very cool challenge you put on yourself. Liking the concept you have lined up, can't wait to see it done!

Re: modern/luxury interior
ok, i wanted to keep it clean clay render until i finish modeling, but i couldnt resist making some at least basic light and materials. Added some furniture, TV, some modern looking lamp, which is not too well seen. I needed it to maintain motivation, to see it more and more shaping up.
btw: about the motivation - more of you motivated me, maybe all of you. All of you have some projects and some of them i really like. Some good renders by Draise, Mikomdude and many others. Good to be back in bussiness without bussiness :D Lets see if i can still do it.
Suggestions about the furniture desing appreciated, coz iam not an interior desinger. ;)

Re: modern/luxury interior
Nice photo-realistic scene! Maybe some luxurious chairs and a small glass table for the interior. Oh and spaceships, everything looks better with spaceships
By the way, is it just me or is the wall really playing Tetris with the shelves?

Re: modern/luxury interior
lol, ouya, tetris, i have another idea about the shelf shape. Glass table is in plan, some sofa instead of chair (maybe a chair for the balcony), but sadly no spaceships, sorry :D
edit: another step. I changed camera angle so i will have view from the bright side. Made a sofa, used one of my old tables. Changed the shelves (what do you think?) I have bad feeling about the lighting, that will be challange once the modeling will be done.
think to go... balcony window/door, some chair there, vertical blinds partly covering window, some pillow on the sofa, something (DVD cases) to that shelves, remote controller for tv on the table. some vase on the little table picture on the left wall.

Re: modern/luxury interior
new tiny update... i made some small things that i put there: remote controller for that TV, some DVD boxes on the left shelf (not too visible), clock on the right shelf, some pillows on the couch. Aaaand the render is bigger.
Any suggestions about what to put where?

Looking good! The render looks very convincing.
As for more stuff... how about flowers, a rug/carpet? Maybe some paintings on the wall.

Re: modern/luxury interior
Bitkar: sorry i missed this thread..
Good start!
few tips that help me a lot and hope help you too.
1) don't add objects on your scene untill you get the lighting you want..
2) To get your interior brighter use infinite lights without shadows and small amount..
3) I think your arealight has no falloff. i think the oponent wall is too bright..
**4) i miss this.. to avoid the vray glass bug use a mix of mirror and plain trasparency.. set reflection to 3 or sort and the transparency to something like 0.3 will do the trick very well.. Also i recommend you to use fresnell instead mirror shader..
Keep the good work!

Re: modern/luxury interior
mikom is reading my thoughts :) carpet - i will use my hair/fur/grass experiences to make some very furry :) painting will be on the left wall with red border. Flower is a problem, i cant make flowers :D i have to find what i have.
Prodigy, you are right, it has no falloff, the lighting is temporary, i will finetune it as a last step. Just my style ;) With falloff it was too dark there, but maybe i will use more GI bounces or finetune GI settings or infinite light technique to balance the brightness... Iam thinking about using IBL instead of infinites. I need to make alot of test renders to see which will work best.
Thanks for the tips, very appreciated!

Re: modern/luxury interior
sooo. just played with the vray, lighting and glass bug a bit... well ok, neither skylight nor the ibl works in vray as it should. So if i will want some additional lighting i will have to use infinite lights as Marcel did.
So far i tried to crank up the Primary and Secundary bounce setings to 4 and 1.2 and this is how it looks like. Notice that glass table is without bug, because primary GI is set to Lightmap, second to direct. Lightmap settings cranked up to 5000 lightsamples and 0.010 sample spacing. I think i can use even more lightsamples for the final render. 5000 was about 15 min. of rendering, so its pretty ok. I will use 1000 for preview rendering, which is still pretty fast. I think its pretty usable setup (rendering, not the lighting). btw: it uses around 100MB of memory not depending on number of lightsamples given, while building the lightmap. So its ok to use very high settings and go away for sunny day and let computer work for 2h or maybe more.
ps: there are no changes since last WIP render except the rendering settings.

Re: modern/luxury interior
As you noticed, i havent visited this forum much lately. Its because i had alot of work seeking a new job and everything worked out. So the thing is that i have a new job. I will do graphics for a real estate agency. They have a department for new projects. So maybe i will have not too much time for this project but seems like you will see more of projects i will make at work. 3D vizualizations (in trueSpace of course ;) ) will be part of my job, tho i will do 2D/DTP most of time for marketing department.
I hope i will have some time to finish this one. But iam really glad i found the job, tho it will not be easy there. Just wanted you to know whats happening.
