Free screen recorder
Ok I found this and so far I like it. It is what I have been using for my videos.

If you have an Nvidia card you can also use Nvidia Shadowplay I believe. It's part of the GeForce experience that comes with your drivers.

I installed this one a long time ago and have not updated it... unusual for a sourceforge project to have that much crap in it.....

Yep, I think that's the trick. I did search and it said earlier installers were no problem. ANd thanks clintonman for the heads up. (these kind of details are very important)
If you're gonna go through the trouble, a clean one that records 1080p without choking (delay) would be great!.

I also use an older version of cam studio. (before the bloat ware.) If you do a clean version of it clinton would you mind sharing it?

Here it is. Actually, I didn't do this. It was included with the source code. There is no installer, just run the recorder.exe file
Only thing is that it has a dialog saying a new version is available. I don't recommend getting the update.
There is one newer version, but I wasn't able to build the screen capture portion. I think the newer one uses directshow and can record video from a webcam.

One more CamStudio update...
I downloaded the installer and got it on a virtual machine without any problems. It doesn't look any different than the one included in the source code. It also showed me that the version that I couldn't build wasn't newer, but some kind of experimental version.
If you want a copy of the files without the installer let me know and I'll put it up on my website. It's too big for the forums.
