Going to study rendering in Blender and what easier to start with than creating a good car shader. Yeah right.
So here's my first ever attempt with rendering. Up till now I've only used the internal renderer (Blender Render) and never for a finished product but since Cycles is going to be the end game, I will be concentrating on that. This is a wip render more than anything; I just wanted to get this rolling off my desk cuz its driving me nuts. The model is also my first foray into a finished car. The front half design was almost exactly what I had envisioned. I have spent two months and still not satisfied with the rear section but other than refining this is what I'm going with.
Spent all day with Cycles and still can't get even close to what a good car finish should be. It seems if you're using Cycles renderer, ya gotta learn nodes.
ANy pointers are appreciated.

Re: Blender Car
Yeah, first times in Blender have never been easy for me.. I do like the potential of Cycles in concept though.
Node based shaders works similar to shading in Maya or Softimage, also somewhat similar to WS trueSpace. It shouldn't be too complex with some tutorials I guess...
You got a good start though, looks alright.

Thanks Draise
Gettin it a lil better Edit: lol... well, it looks not much better than the last posted pic. It Felt like it looked better when I was rendering it. Hmmm

Thanks pugman. Next pic will be after this video.
Peter, the moment the glue dries, I'm puttin' this baby on the road and comin to ya for some weinershnitzel and Amstel. Ask some of the models if they want to join us. (prefer blonde, but more important that they can carry a conversation, so, I leave that to your discretion)
Heyy... just got an idea. How about I make a comp. RAYMAN and me taking a photo with this car behind us. What ya say bud?
How about... anybody got a usable European police car model they can share? It will be ticketing us for speeding as we pose in front of our car. (Did you all know that the Italian highway patrol use Lambos? How cool is that? Well, I'm guessing they're only good for one chase; then they have to go back to the garage for repairs, which means... My Chevy and I are good for a few runs)

Re: Blender Car
Looking good!
Braver than I am as I have not dared to venture long into Blender.
Walk by faith, not by sight.
