Something called TIRF microscopy

Post by CdeB »

To show I haven't given up with trueSpace, despite evidence to the contary (lack of P in WIP). Here is another cell illustration I did for a presentation at work.

TIRF stands for Total Internal ReFlection microscopy and is a technique which enables you to just illuminate a distance of a few 100 nm into a cell and selectively image fluorescent molecules or structures in this space. Its very useful for catching vesicles fusing with the cell membrane as only the structures just underneath the membrane are visible. This is what the illustration is trying to bring out!

Cool, sounds complicated but I'm sure that for real it wouldn't look this cool :) so nice work. And every time I'm not inspired, I just turn on the TV and watch everything there is to see and see what I come up with. Try it, it works. ;)

Very Cool CDeB. :bananacheers:
It's good to see trueSpace being implemented for scientific study.

Thanks Froo and MikomDude,

I hope that, unlike the last Christmas holiday period, will be able to continue my non-work tS projects currently in limbo. Unfortunately, last year we got a very bad virus (via childrens use of internet!!) which took me a whole week and 2 different antivirus programs (plus tricks) to finally irradicate. It was one of these nasty types that eliminate the use of all standard virus checkers which is never a good place to start.

I will probably post another work related illustration between now and then, though!

Well I got called into the boss's office today and now have to use trueSpace for the next 2 weeks as he wants a series of 3D slides for our spin-off company's promotion... :bananacheers:

Sounds rough...

Cross-post to 'Someone has to do it; it might as well be you!'

Nice work, always great to see real world applications of good ol' tS.
