Luuv crashes tS

Post by jrboddie »

Trying to export some modestly complex objects to .obj but tS/Luuv is consistently crashing on my Vista-32 machine. I can get an export of a textured cube but the more complex objects (which have holes and need triangulation) are not working. I was able to get an export of the same object on an XP machine in another location yesterday.

Is there some configuration that I should be aware of to make this work or perhaps is there some operation I should do on the object prior to executing Luuv to make this work?

My model lives in the workspace side and I switch to the model side to do the export operation.

This might sound stupid but what version LUUV are you using?
I would also tell Frootee to test your new model with his new OBJ Exporter.
This way you both will benefit.

Yes jrboddie; I would be happy to test your model.
Currently I can export UV, normals, and geometry; currently working on materials.

send me a PM or email if you like.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick replies.

I was using 1.1.4 but I installed 1.1.5 and get the same result.

Immediately after clicking 'yes' to the triangulate dialog, the program crashes with a dialog that says 'out of memory'. Since this worked on my other computer which has less memory, it must be some configuration issue.

I'll send the file to froo for a test.

I'm pretty sure you don't want to upgrade to 1.1.5 because you will crash all the time.
I use 1.1.4 with no problems. Frootee should be able to tell us if there is a problem with
the model itself.

I deleted and reinstalled tS 7.61 Beta which included the 1.1.4 LUUV. I continued to get crashes--even with an attempt to export the Bentley object in the library.

I then added the LUUV for workspace object and now it works! I had to turn the bridge from 'Auto' to 'On' to get this plug-in to work, but I am pretty sure that when I was trying to export by switching to model that I tried that option too.

Anyway, I am back in business. I sent my object to Jason to test his exporter. The object should be a good test as it was made when I had much less knowledge about modeling. I used a lot of booleans so the geometry may be pretty messed up.

Thanks for the help.

As a note, trueSpace 7.6/7.61 does not work with LUUV 1.1.5. It crashes then. It needs to run the older 1.1.4 that comes with tS 7.6/7.61. When it crashes with LUUV 1.1.4 then i could bet it`s the geometry. Is there SDS applied?

I'm back to 1.1.4 now.

It certainly could be a geometry problem but I am able to get a successful export by using the LUUV interface tool that works from the Workspace side with the bridge on. So it is more likely some cockpit error on my part.

I had the same problem on Model side, with XP. LUUV and TS froze.

I need to add support for encapsulated objects. Then I can export this thing.
LUUV did export the file, but it crashed at the end.
