Bongo Dance - Baile del Bongo

Post by Draise »

Hey guys!

Here is my little Bongo dance for you! It's a promotional video created as an experiment to create expectations in our audience, to share some word of what we are doing, help with sales. And.. we are twiddling thumbs while we wait for a large sale.

I finally uploaded and finished this animation, with it's trials and errors (a whole two weeks wasted with a techinical glitch in SI). It's my character Bongo from the series that does a little dance. The animation is better than most I've done, with some errors here and there. His animation is also more restricted making him look a little more adult than the guy in the series. I tried playing with the lighting a lot. But I like it, and now I'm sharing it with you.

Hey guys! I am competing in an animation festival coming up with ACM's Siggraph Bogota 2013 here in Colombia, and there is a change I get my animation to play all day in a national Cinema.

Sometimes the site has problems with sound, but you can watch it better in Chrome with this link http://www.loop.la/animacion.php?animacion_id=405

To vote you either like it with Facebook or Twitter, comment it or just watch it.

It's exciting to play in festivals, specially with the online community as the judges!

Watching your excellent Bongo Dance animation again I noticed two things you could improve on next time.
1) One it never appears like Bongo looks at his feet when the colors are created by his feet. I get the impression this is a new "discovery" or gift he just received.
2) There are a couple times the colors and sound suggest he is stomping but his knees don't bend with a leg stomp. Just a hard
tap of the foot.
I criticize because it is helpful to the Artist, I would expect from others the same. :bananacheers:

Best of luck with the Festival!!!

Wow thanks Steinie. I really appreciate critiques. You have some very good points.

The first point is a good one to keep in mind. I'll work on that for the next time I animate him.

Concerning his knees ... he has none (well not much of one). But also right. I will work a bit more next time with his legs.

Making characters walk or run or jump around is really hard!

It's very jolly. Fun little animation! Say, did you do the voice / music as well? :bananadrum:
