You OK Wizard?

Post by Steinie »

CNN Reported today:
"One of New Zealand's largest cities lay in ruins Tuesday night after a powerful earthquake killed at least 65 people, toppled buildings and left scores trapped beneath chunks of concrete."
"The 6.3-magnitude quake struck Christchurch during the lunchtime rush."

I hope you and your companion are ok.

yes, good news, one of his friends in New Zealand posted this:
Per phone call 02.23.11 to me from Nessie, she and Stephen are safe, unharmed, all pets accounted for. House is still standing, they are camping out in a tent. Plenty of water and food. No electricity or sewerage, phone began working tonight but they ask only emergency calls please

Aww you guys! Thank you all so much for your concern and kind words - it means a great deal to me and Witchy that so many of you have voiced your fears for our safety.

We are - as has been reported - all well and fine and uninjured. Due to substantial damage to a main arterial power cable our suburb has been one of the last to be reconnected to the power grid. Our power was finally restored yesterday evening. The main reason for our 'silence' is that we had no electricity - and little desire to go and see the terrible damage down to our beautiful city. But we are back now and hopefully we'll stay back for a while. Our home which was significantly damaged in the first quake on September 4th last year has sustained further minor damage. Fortunately it's a sturdy wee building and is still structurally sound even though it will require eventual demolition and rebuilding. Unfortunately though we have lost a lot of possessions this time.

Living in New Zealand one is always aware of the potential for a large quake so we were well prepared with emergency provisions, bottled LPG gas for the barbecue, bottled water and camping gear and so forth so we have been quite comfortable all things considered. The assistance and support we have received from friends, neighbours, and various official organisations has been phenomenal and has allowed us to go through the initial quake recovery just fine. In some ways the most frustrating thing for me has been the lack of power - as I had taken advantage of the messiah Dare to Share offer I was really keen to get to grips with animating!

Anyway, thanks again for all your kind thoughts and good wishes - it's great to be back!

It's great to hear from you Wizard! I'm very glad that you and Witchy are okay! That is certainly the most important thing. Though I am sorry to hear that you lost a lot of possessions and took further damage to your home. I'm sure it's been a trying time. I hope things get cleaned up and restored quickly so you can return to some level of normality. I look forward to seeing some cool Messiah work when you get a chance to get back to it! ;)
