Lightworks Image Competition
As this forum has attracted quite a lot of new tS users, I thought it might be a good idea to re-raise awareness of the Lightworks Image Competition. This competition is open to any image rendered using the Lightworks engine, which is the default renderer on Modelside, and the winning entry is rewarded with a 32 GB iPod Touch. The competition is run quarterly with any images that miss the deadline automatically entered into the next one. This competition was once well supported by the tS community and there are quite a few tS works featured in the website's gallery. So why not rumage through your image collection and send something in.

Re: Lightworks Image Competition
Yeah, that's a pain. Mind you, when I said post-processing is not allowed, thinking about it, that is not strictly true. You have to declare any post-processing and give detailed specifics of what was done, which to me infers the same thing.
If you think about it, the aim of the competition is to promote just how good the lightworks engine is and thus allowing you to alter your image in photoshop would really be counter productive. Scandelous even if they activly promoted it on their own website. So you may get away with post processing an image if it is in regards to something really trivial. Anything more and I expect it would be disqualified.

Re: Lightworks Image Competition
Be prepared to render LARGE if you happen to make it past the first round.
I can't find the email I got from them to quote the exact number but I seem to recall 12,000 X ?
Yeah, large. They want it that big for print purposes.
My machine couldn't handle it, but I was happy enough to get 'commended'.
Good Luck!

Not as such, but if you look at all the previous winners they do tend to like Archviz or Product type renders. But then again, maybe that is what tS does best.marcel wrote:No subject for the competition?
I have entered twice with both my Matrix Phone and Heist (Nightime) images and they both got Highly Commended so it's not as if they are dismissive of such entries.

Re: Lightworks Image Competition
I was planning to put art I can in just this contest, because it is only 4 times per year and I want it for the new year
Now will be hard
I think I'll bet all by chips in another competition when everybody forgets.

Re: Lightworks Image Competition
I never use post processing, you don't really need it, just need to figure out how to use the model side tools and features, like volumetrics, depth field, flares etc...
might look at that one, Breech, thanks for the link...

Re: Lightworks Image Competition
Hello
I came across this thread and wanted to clear up any misunderstanding. The Lightworks image competition is open to submissions that are post-processed using photoshop or other packages. As a 3d visualisation person myself I understand that artists use a suite of tools for creating images. Its just that we need to know what has been done with what package so we can accurately represent our rendering engine through your work. So please dont be put off entering the competion, you just need to include a brief explanation of the creation process with your submission. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your work.
Regards
Dave C (technical consultant - Lightwork Design).

Re: Lightworks Image Competition
good new and welcome to the forum. Artists don't like to have limit for their creation. The most important is the result.
theuns: post process is useful for many thing. It depend on what you want. most professional use post process for still image or animation. especially if you want special effect.
