How to render glass texture in V-Ray1.52 for trueSpace7.51?

Post by Hicks »

In truespace 7.51 tutorial video, the normal glass ball is transparent with shadow as below:

But I can't render the glass ball normally in v-ray 1.52, it's not transparent and without shadow, why? (picture as below:)

there is a bug in vray 1.52. Sometimes it cant compute corectly shadows made by transparant object (using transmision).

normally it should be ok when you have raytracing on, light cast shadows, objects cast and resiceves shadows, transparent shadows should be ON, and you can use caustic.

Try to use the fresnel glass shader with vray to have more contrast (same icon as glass but with a letter. this icon is grey when you use Lightwork but active when vray render is selected).

Thank you, I had tried. But It looks a little bit strange and not like a transparent glass! How to let it transparently and eliminate jagged edges of the sphere?

it looks wierd because it doesnt reflect anything... if you use some nice hdri map it will look nicer too.

use smooth quad divide or rightclick the sphere button before you make a sphere and set higher resolution.

you have also not correct material. Dont use the first slider - ambient if you dont want it to shine (like emit light). Set also more shines.

Ok, thank you!

How can I let the sphere just right touching in the plane and don't cross it? (i.e. to avoid collision!)

The same question about collision, how should I do in the Workspace side?
