Help please, I have a fineshed scene but Truespace crashes!

Post by goldengel »

Hi

I worked with Truespace 7.6. New, I installed Truespace from the Website. I Installed 7.61 BETA. Beta because no other file was available.

No I have a scene and it always crashes. It shows black textures and materials. And it will play the objects only in the "Anim View" in the Workspace and not in the "Model View". I used the model view because I can create AVI's there. And the image result is a lot better there.
Image

If anyone can download my project and repair it or tell me what I did wrong my day will be made!

In Workspace:

In Model view:
http://www.goldengel.ch/temp/_03_Monade0000.png"

Then Truespace crashes when changeing the view. Always bevore I will made the last move make the last step. Make my avi.
http://www.goldengel.ch/temp/screenshot ... -58-08.jpg"

Then, after restarting Truespace the blue plane has a size of 0.0X and 0,0Y and is not changeable.
And I can not see the window anymore to change any parameters for the particle object. I still stays unvisible.

my project is here (20MB) hope all is included.
>Download Project<

I know the problem.
If you need the model side to render the animation, try this:
- load the scene and go to model side.
- save the scene as a .scn with the Ts6 files menu.
- turn off the bridge.
- close Ts and open again.
- be sure you are on the model side and load the .scn file (with the Ts6 files menu).
- save it again.
- the files was 57 Mo, now it is only 17 Mo.
I can work without problem with the scene.
When you work on the model side and complex scene, choose the bridge off and work only in one side. (one of your objet have 350000 faces. i think it is not necessary for some spheres). Your scene could be smaller (about 5 Mo max) without lost details and the animation is calculated more quickly.

Marcel is right! When the scene is too complex the brigdes have problems like a real brigde that are overloaded, I also have some probles with complex scenes and does't know why, thank you Marcel. :bananacool2:

Not solved. Still having the same problems.

Post by goldengel »

Hi Marcel

Hi Leonregis

Thank you very much for your help. BUT ...
I will not work.

I searched 30min for the "bridge" menu and I found in in the settings tab.
Then I did it like you told me. Loaded the Monade01, 6.RsScn file, I went to Default view (only 1 window) and switched to the model view. Then I made the "polygon reducing tool" for the "blod plate" object. How do you read the polygon count?
Then I saved all as Monade01, 6.Scn file, switched the bridge to OFF and restartet Truespace 7.61 BETA. And opened the Monade01, 6.Scn file.

I selected the "TrueParts" Object. Right click on "True Parts" Object to show the properties of the blood particles. But nothing happens. No window pops up. Still the same bad effect.

The blue water object, called "Water" is unvisible. Object size stays on 0.0 for width and 0.0 for height. I have played the scene but the water does not animate and the "Monade" object does not turn. In the Workspace view the Monade is animating.

Sorry. At this point, no of my problems are solved.
If it works in your Truespace applikation, please, can you upload your solved project to my webspace (http://www.goldengel.ch" [slash]temp[slash]upload.aspx) as zip file?

My project shows the screenshot like my first posting. And Water and all other object are animating. But now, it will not really work because of the problem I told you.

What the scene has to at the end: show some blood plates swimming around. Some "YingYang" object turn in different speeds. After ony virus object comes to one of the "YingYang", the "YingYang" Object will become defective. Then a police object will repair the defective "YingYang".

Hopefully
Timo

Workspace and modelside anim function are very different and NO compatible even if some function can work throught the bridge. About the scene that i have, i think some objects had lost function. I imagine Trupart was a trueparticule animated object made with the modelside. Now trupart is not an animated particule but an object (with too many vertices because they represent all the step of the anim in one object and you have 1200 images). It is a problem of the use of both side.
The best way is :
-use what is good on the zip. (i erased all bad things in the scene: truepart and water)
-do another particule effect.
-do the water again.
Sorry but both objects are definitely lost in your scene.
All the others objects and animation are ok. Before to do anything, remember bridge off and never use workspace with this file. Save as a .scn and keep a copy.
ps: when you have a complex animated object or an object that you like in the modelside, you can save it also as a .cob object. It is more secure and you can import it in the .scn file to replace a bad object. Useful when you have a problem.

exactly Marcel nightmare on elm street. you get to 400000 polys and the thing freaks out.
its not just a problem of bridge on and off......
its a problem of truespaces file management.
what is the bridge for if you cant use it...... ?
Plus he´s got physics on his´animation.
its the tuepart object !

The story of the bridge (in my opinion):
The fatal mistake of Caligari is to make a new and good software (named workspace, a curious name: it is TS7) but incompatible with the old (named modelside, another curious name: it is TS6) and mix both in one soft because the workspace was not finished and needed tools of modelside to justify the hasty sale of the software (before being bought by Microsoft). Without the lack of time to integrate modelside and do bridge to communicate with both side, the Truespace "workspace only version" (named standalone) have been completed. The real problem is that real Truespace 7 even finished, was not marketable because it had no render engine, no standard import/export. With a simple update of TS6.6 (adding hdri, Vray, improvement of import export, news tools) we would have expected until the big change that TS7 should be. Maybe this would have happened before Microsoft come and stop the project because the crisis (official version but i am not sure if it is true).
Maybe that help newbie to understand how Truespace is strange and how it is important to know these particularity to work without problem. You hate it or you love it

Goldengel: If you need to work with the modelside, i think TS7.6 is better than TS7.61Beta. I found bug in the beta version when you use modelside. Important: if you save a scene with TS 7.61 you can't load it with TS 7.6! For your futur modelside project: begin with TS7.6 and keep the soft! The link is good but go quickly:

Marcel, no doubts of what you said! It was a mistake, it's like Windows 95 have a bridge to DOS or something like that. I don't know the causes to launch a unfinished soft, maybe time or concurrence. Workspace was going to revolutionize Truespace and maybe their 3D program class, they just need the whole inventory of tools that we can find at the model side and remake to the WS and it come with an standard renderer not good at all but that can render obviously and if you want just buy the best at market...

MS stop the TS development because of the crises but it was very convenient because TS was one of most provenience 3D low-cost software and in a few years he would be side by side with others renominated softs like 3D max and Maya or continue in his place we will never know if TS was become opensource he would be know in the clouds on the top, he would be a lot better than blender and in some years if he would a great development community... But it is just dreams and predictions, but one thing is true of Truespace MS won't TS in the world because if he was a subject (prejudice) to MS why they at least turned it payware again and take it to Roman like in old times MS would be just an moderator till he gets stable economically and can ''assume'' it again, of course when TS are encharge by roman MS don't pay anything, I don't know if it's possible but maybe something like that...

Just to say, I'm not specialist and don't have any experience it's just speculation and remembering I'm very young...

No result at all

Post by goldengel »

Thanks to you all guys

I run into panik at the moment. Because the Truespace scenario have taken over 120 houres of my free time with NO RESULT. I always do the same thing. Testing and switching Things. Bridge On or Off, Paint my objects, Adjust the TrueParts, Re-build the animations again and then ... Bad result. If I do the same, I have the same bad result. But if I combine things, I do not understand why thinks went down.
- gray objects instead of objects with colored texture.
- sometimes I wrote the Trueparts with to many objects and Truespace will not stop calculating for 4 houres ( = taskmanager & kill process). ESC does not work.
- The very nice water flow effect of my project (written in Script) does not animate while using the Model view BUT
- The TrueParts and good redering results do not look good in Model View.
- I can not save the TrueParts because, next time I have to select the "Custom Object" again. And in the model view, I do not understand why I can not apply some Color and Reflection because I have not found any menu to change the values.
- ...

Sorry I think I have to stop my work with Truespace because I have nothing fixed of my issues but read over 100 acricles and vidos (mostly, they do not correspond with my current Truespace User Interface of 7.6 or 7.61).
I will spend some Dollars of my PayPal account if anyone can send my a working scene where blood is shown and the monade object is hurted by a bacillus. Then the bacillus has to be killed by any blizzards and a new monade will burn into the scene. Total scene time: about 15 seconds.

example for blood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVekmAHbU4g" (at the middle of the video)
high end ying yang (monade): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkTUhjQN ... re=related"
high end bacillus view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIwu5Mev ... L&index=10"

for anyone hwo will spend some time with me, I can chat by skype, icq, msn, website-chat, whatever you like...

here are all my results. including the monade and the water. Also including my script for creating water, a bacillus and some textures:

hopefully

Goldengel there is a solution to every problem that you encounter but I have to know what effects you are after.....
The prolblem of your file was mainly the overlarge particle simulation ... i tried out your scene.....
The yingyang is no problem but I dont know about the other links that you posted..
i would like to skype with you we would just have to fix a time.
I want to understand what the result should look like !
Goldengel sounds german so we talk german I´m austrian....
by the way I want to help you for freebecause thats what basicaly i understand what help in the community is about.. ;)

Hi Peter

My skype is nasenbaer.benq
Yes, German sound very konstruktiv :-)
I tried several ways. In the last project without a large number of verticies I think.
I will wait for your skype contact now. And I will post our result in this forum, if we are successfully.
