Today I thought about a special contest.
Like a regular contest, but everyone should show parts of his workflow.
So we could learn faster from another and find the best ways and tricks.
Unfortunately it would be more work to do.

Re: new contest
The MMC does usually require, or ask for, a WIP. Do you mean that the new contest would be about the workflow? That is, the winner is selected not for what he modeled or how great his image is but for how good his workflow is?
Good idea Pugman 1!

Then he has to show how he did it.
Maybe this is not possible, I do not know

Re: new contest
I think that we don't need to create a new contest just add this ''workflow'' explanation to the MMC participants.

Re: new contest
I mostly agree with Leonregis on that. The MMC requires a WIP and is supposed to be about the total process so it should include workflow.
It is true though that many participants don't put much in their WIPS and don't tell much about workflow. In my opinion the voters mostly vote for the image and don't consider what's behind it. (That seems familiar. I wonder if other voters do that?) They also seem to prefer the more photo-realistic images. But the MMC isn't really so much about winning the contest.
By "workflow" you mean how the tools are used and not what you are making with them? (Pipelines between software, do you model then texture then do lighting, or texture as you go, how do you set up your screen, what tools did you choose and why, etc.?)
Maybe a workflow contest could be like the texturing contest (KenA invented that? Where is he?). The contest rules could attempt to eliminate all distractions from the workflow by providing a specific goal (like make this football helmet [picture]) and forbid final images. Extensive information on how the work was done not what objects or images are, would be required.
Problem is voters aren't going to review all that detail. Also consider that if there are many contests then there will be less participation in each one.
