I found it a lot easier to do the hand rigging in trueSpace whereas the actual posing was done in Daz.
It should be mentioned my character was imported from Sculptris and had different dimensions from the stock Daz character so the transfer utility was about the only tool I could use to actually get the skeleton onto my character without rigging it from scratch (after a lot of trial and error I must add).
The "fit to" or auto-rig functions in DaZ don't work very well for imported models. Most of the neat functions in Daz only seem to work for Daz-characters and the conversion process from Sculptris to Daz triax-character (or whatever that system is called) was something that seemed a bit overdone for my project.
Currently the only things that remain on the character are painting the clothes, bow and arrows + quiver. After that I can start on the scene
