Hello folks
I have been working with Headstrate Entertainment the past few months to create models and animations for their new dvd Kingdom Kids Worldwide.
They have announced it on their web page so I can finally talk about it publically. I can not post any actual animation without the permission of headstrate but i will be selecting some choice clips for my reel and when i get them approved i will post them here. But attached is the poster and dvd graphic. I slapped a watermark on it to keep on the safe side, but you can see it pretty clear. I designed and modeled the kids in ts. The final animation and rendering was done in messiah 3d, but the models i made were all created in ts. And the models I bought for it were all altered and changed in ts to fit the scene.
Here is a link where you can preorder the dvd:

I will post as much as I am able in this thread about it, i designed and built the kingdom kids but I do not own any rights on them, so I am limited to what I can post. But buy the DVD and you will see some fun ts stuff and even a bonus dance track all done with my models, mr. bones moves, and rendered realtime in ts!
Thanks

Re: Kingdom Kids Worldwide
Looks good.
Tell about the lighting.
Are all the character movements from Mr. Bones?
How is Messiah3D's rendering compared to Vray?

Re: Kingdom Kids Worldwide
Hi Folks, thanks
I did most of the lighting the old fashioned way of placing lights, usually starting with the standard 3 point light setup then building from there. I don't really have a science to it, just mess around with the lights til it looks well lit and natural for the type of scene it is. I am happy with most of the lighting in the jesus is here song video on the dvd. There are a couple of spots I had trouble getting a nice spotlight consistent during the guitar solo, but overall I think it is decent. After I set up my regular lights, I mess around with global illumination to give a nice bounced light and softer shadows. I generally go back and lower the intensity of some of the lights in the scene I had placed, depends on the intensity of the gi I go with though. I started this way with the lessons on the dvd as well, but as I found my render times way out of hand for my deadline I had to cut the gi and go with just direct lights. So there is some inconsistency in lighting during some of the lessons, i tried to do it where there were camera cuts but a couple of places the light quality just changes
I used pretty much the standard setup that comes with ts realtime for the bonus track for the realtime render, that setup is a pretty good starting point.
Only the bonus track uses mocap motion, everything else on the dvd is hand animated in messiah.
Messiah has an excellent full features renderer. AYou can do anything in it you can do in ts vray and more, but it is not as easy as ts vray. It's not roclet science or anything, but ts vray is much easier to use. There are some excellent render examples over at setuptab.com. I still need to study the rendering capabilities of messiah more in depth.
Wizard, the kid in the red shirt is a girl lol, but yeah i can see how she can be mistaken for a long hair heavy metal dude in that pic
