Have you tried Lightwave Core? Hardcore member?

Post by noko »

Here is link about Newtek Core or goals?

Sounds so much like what I love about tS 7.X series. Seems like a copy in so many aspects except the real time environment is not so much stress, too bad. Anyways been looking around for packages and always feel so let down on overall design of product. Just been spoiled by Roman's vision which is proving to be almost a decade ahead of everyone else. Seems like core is at tS 7.0 alpha stage, so any info here would help me decide if that would be a viable product to buy. Thanks.

Depends on what you want to do......
Lightwaves move to unite the model and layout side looks like a smarter move.
I come from 9.6 and eagerly awaiting Core.
it has some very cool parametric construction history too.
Lightwave isnt easy to use though....
It also uses collada so its pretty well integrated into animations with all the other packages.
I use it with vue (mainly because of athmospheres and ecosystems) and its now also possible to export the bones..and rerigg in Vue.
Please elaborate more on what you want to do.......all depends on that..

Thanks for reply, basically ability to link or tie together different nodes or parameters of an object easily, similar to link editor in tS. Adding behavior type or procedural animations to different objects in a scene. Seems like Core is similar there from discription except I am not sure at present if Core is even remotely up to this at this time. The one environment for content is very appealing to me but seems like at present it is similar to tS old side modeler and new side Workspace with a bridge between the two. GPU real time display would also help with ability to create custom materials for Real Time. Any info there would help out, thanks.

If your looking ito a node based link editor system then there is another system digital Ice from Xsi but it comes at a price point
Cinema 4d also has a link editor based system.. and if your interested in procedral particle systems Thinking particles is another good option(node based).
But at this point why do you want to substitute Truespace for procedural animations ?Its still working......
I use Truespaces procedurl nimation abilities inside Vue via Collada.....
I am also getting into using Froo´s exporter for moving procedural morphing like the Shark project out....
There are other parts of the program that arent up to it like the nurbs part and the enviromental part of it with volumetric lighting etc.
In the end what do yo want to do make a film (animations)or a game or stills... ?
Why realtime render ? Because Core isnt made for that but has an awsome render engine.

By reputation, Houdini is the ultimate procedural node-beast on the cg scene, you may want to have a look at it if non-destructive workflows are your panacea.

If it's real-time you're after, then the only app I can think of that's like TS is Demicron, one of the few surviving apps from the vrml days.
