Figured I'd jump into this challenge as well.

Here is a start I made on my aquarium set:

Getting somewhere now.
Still a few problems: One, the fact it's silly high-poly (blinding wireframe high-poly) and Two, for some some reason the model-side doesn't want to render the normal-maps for the wood, castle and rocks. (at least, not very well) Gonna switch to bump-maps, hopefully that'll solve the issue.

Thanks pugman!

Here is a small update.

No fishies yet, they will be the thing I make next. Also, for some reason the normal maps work now, yay!

Note to self: not so much light for final render.

Ok still haven't managed to figure out how to get rid of the blinding reflections. Though pretty much everything has been modeled now. Next render will be final! :D

Some fishies:

Good entry. The lighting looks watery. Good fish. How about wireframes of lower poly items if any? Fish maybe? Skip it if you want. There's no educational function when the mesh isn't visible in a dense wireframe.

I just feel like posting this here:
temp display.jpg
It's the texture for the little temperature/pump control unit. I spent about 30 minutes just designing the interface for that little gizmo as well as converting Celsius to Fahrenheit and checking what day the 5th of May 2017 would actually be.
I probably spent more time on that than it took the render the picture itself. I felt it deserved to be seen and not just be a detail on the picture that isn't even very visible.

Also, that shuttle is the Colombia toy version made by SIKU toys. Kind of like this. Though mine is an older die-cast model, same scale.

Yeah, sometimes details we work on get lost in the final image. I find myself limiting my lighting or camera position or such because I don't want details to be lost off camera, too small, or in darkness. When I do that I end up with a scene presented and lit to showcase my modeling and textures rather than something framed and lit appropriately for the subject.

Why May 5, 2017?

Yeah, sometimes I wish my 3D models could actually be viewed in 3D all the time. Heh.

No reason, seemed like just a good a date as any other.
