Grid Snap Question...

Post by Jimmer »

Grid snap is NOT working for rotations. It works fine for move and
scale... Also, works fine for extrude pushing and pulling ect... When rotating
an object with grid snap ON the object would clump around at 45 degree
angles. Can't get it to do that anymore... With grid snap ON (now) it
just smoothly rotates. Would like to get the Clumping back.

When you right click on the grid icon while in rotate mode does it display 45 for xyz? Maybe it got turned down to 1 or some low number.

I only know the 90° snap if you use the right mouse button instead the left one while grabbing the rotate widget.
I still use TrueSpace 6.6

I figured it out not long after I posted here. Brain FREEZE I guess !!!
The Grid Snap can be changed for each kind of movement. (Move, scale
and rotate). To do it, click on Grid Snap and open the Grid Snap Info
pannel. (Right click Grid Snap Icon). With the info pannel open go to
the icons for Object Move, Scale or Rotate. As you select these the
info in the "Grid Snap" pannel shows each translation setting.
My object icons are at the center top of my LayOut. About where they
were in the default LayOut.
My settings are MOVE .05, SCALE .05, ROTATE 10. The 10
in "ROTATE" refers to degrees. These setting work GREAT for fine
adjustments and at the same time still allow you to see the micro steps
for exact placement. Still not quite sure how I accidently changed
it ??? Thanks DD..

An other way to move is to change the objet convert (not object unit that change the size of the object!) on the object info panel without changing the 3 value of the grid. You win time when you need to change the precision often.
ex: all setting are meters by default and grid=1: the value is 1 meters.
Change the obj convert to decimeters: the value of the grid is 1 decimeters. you move 10 time less.
return to the obj convert then choose again meters: the value return to his first setting.

relation to one another.

How do you go about changing "OBJECT CONVERT" to decimeters without "OBJ UNiTS" changing to decimeters? What about using the KEYGRID plugin or the OBJECTSHIFTER PLUGIN for metric units.e there any advantages?
