Everytime I had a drive crash, I had to reinstall Truespace with every plugin, update and libraries etc.
Is there a way to make a copy of everything ( together with registry keys ) so I could just copy it back
to its locations? Is there any tool that can do these things?

Jup! Clean install your computer ONCE .....then make a backup of that
clean install...a full copy of everything onto an external harddisc...!
Now you can work with your puter! Keep it clear from the internet
as much as possible..only run it online for registering in the cloud
or for activations....!Keep a good anti virus on it... and run it on ALL
files from time to time! Use a different computer for anything else
related to the net especially for emails! ALWAYS search your sticks
and discs you get from somebody if there is something bad on it!!
My daughter had not less then 54 unwanted files on hers!!!!It took me a day
to clean it and get her pictures out!!!!!!!;)
Always make backups of your work!!!! Preferably on DVDs...!
There are archival ones like MDisc that can store for over 100years..
If you harddrive goes do a reinstall with that backup!
Always keep an antivirus disc for external cleaning on a disc!!!
Get a knoppix linux version and make a boot disc from that!
In case your harddrive goes or the Windows doesnt start
you can boot from that and get all your work out of the puter!!!

Thats the most important advice of all!!!!!!!
99% of the malware and spyware and viruses come through
emails or sites that are infected!!!
If you only transfer pictures (ie jpegs) the problem is very very limited
!!!!!!

What do do to your drives?! I've only had one hard drive fail and that was when hard drives were just starting to be common in PCs. The install/uninstall for a program is probably the only thing that really knows where all the pieces of a program are.

You could consider a RAID set up so when a disk fails you can continue work from the other(s). That would protect all of your programs and data.

I tried Raid-systems. It was a mirrored Intel-Raid from my mainboard. It crashed, and I was not more able to
change the corrupt one of the two drives.
I had a Western Digital NAS Raid too. But the system crashed and I had to recover my
data with a Linux-System on my PC.
An other crash experience I had was after a holiday. I switched my PC on and the drive crashed.
The last crash was 3 weeks ago on a Samsung EVO 1TB SSD. SMART showed me 4 bad sectors. Next day
I had 10 bad sectors, so I tried to backup the latest data. While backing up, the drive died completely.
Now I got a new one for the old from Samsung and I bought a second one to hold a clone of my data.
But cloning needs much time for the whole drive.

Mmm, big SSD, wish I could get one.

Why do your disks fail so often? Why does your PC crash so often? Your goal is to be able to quickly reinstall TS after mysteriously frequent disk failures. Maybe learning why they are failing so often and changing that would be good.

Cloning the drive ... what about system restore points? Would that do it?

A second system is an excellent alternative. I have TS installed on at least 5 different systems 2 of which are still in active use. You can also backup your scenes on to inexpensive USB thumb drives to transfer files from PC to PC.

Unfortunaltely no. If I get a crashed drive, to where should I restore the system restore point?


Why I had so much trouble with drives? I think its a matter of time.
I use Computers since the last 80th of the last millennium

Most drives started having problems after about 5 years.
But the crash of my Samsung EVO 1TB was very disappointing.
It died within one year.
