I just finished the 3DBuzz vehicle rigging tutorial! The rig is modular and has automatic steering, wheel spin and suspension and is set to follow a user defined path. The cable on the arm is from a physics simulation based on the Houdini wire deformer. The arm has ik and fk controls for the claw hand rotation and open/close. I started in late September so it took about a month of free time to finish the lesson.

That's really cool, Clinton.
The Arm is a bit limp, should it be more responsive to the jolting of the vehicle?

Houdini! Legend. The stuff effects - I mean dreams - are made of. Very nice rig. Probably worth all your free time time spent.

I think you're right. Maybe I'll add to it after I finish the next set of video tutorials, character rigging. Pretty much everything seen was automated. The only keyframe animation was to set position along the path that was drawn out.Saul wrote:That's really cool, Clinton.

Yep, I learned a lot. The vehicle was the fifth set in their rigging tutorial series. The first 4 were had the basics of using the tools and this last one focused on automated modular systems.Draise wrote:Houdini! Legend. The stuff effects - I mean dreams - are made of. Very nice rig.
