Next year, i think to buy a new computer with windows7 32 bits. Core i7 and good video card. ATI 5870 or Nvidia GTX285. My problem is to be sure that TS can work properly. Modelside and workspace.
What is the best for TS and Windows 7? Nvidia or ATI? (not only power, but new driver for win7).
Do you have experience with this hardware? any know problems?

I've done a little testing on a win7 machine(not mine) and everything seems to work except for the link editor. I'm looking at a workaround for that.

I tried on 2 different machines dual core laptop with nvidia video and a quad core desktop with ati video so I don't think the LE problem is related to video card driver issues.

Thank clintonman. It is possible to resolve this kind of problem if you change the property of TS.exe to choose a compatibility with Vista or XP? anyone know if it is possible with win7? I have no experience with this new system. My TS run under XP and Vista. It seem XP is better for me (I use modelside). I have several month before do the best choose for my hardware.

I tried all the compatibility options and they did not work for me.

Are you running TS as administrator? (Right click on the exe, and choose run as admin. I find that most programs that use any kind of scripting (VB or Java), need to be run this way, as scripts are always suspect when it comes to security.

Running scripts isn't a problem. It's the LE display that's the problem.

when I ran tS761( in fact all truespace 76 and 761 betas in the internal Microsoft win 7 releases there were no problems with the LE behaviour .

As far as I know there were no changes to the tS builds after this period do with the LE or display handling , sowith this in mind I am wondering if there was something introduced into the Win 7 release builds that affected the LE and in due time we might see a win7 patch that addresses the issue .
It certainly wouldn't harm if there was a workaround in the mean time.

I dont know if people will find the article at guru interesting in relation to vista and win7 gpu performance .

I just got TS 7.6 re-installed on my machine, after installing the final Win 7 Home Premium release.

There is a problem with the link editor window. Its a re-draw problem, where nothing gets erased. If you move around in the LE window, multiple copies of the contents remain visable, and it becomes un-usable pretty quickly.

Oddly enough, it only happens with the 2d mode selected. Any other mode in the window works fine.

Another by-product of the problem, is that the LE Properties menu choice does nothing (Doesnt open a properties window).

I have trouble shot the problem as far as disabling Aero, changing securtiy properties, and changing the compatability modes, and nothing seems to make a difference.

It would be nice if the problem was something simple (and I think it probably is) within the LinkEditor2.dll. Maybe someone could look into it.

possibly related: i have win7 64 enterprise & latest ts - it does not like opengl rendermode on model side very much. specifically, you can use opengl as the display mode, but when you test render (object, area, screen) - although it renders every horizontal row of pixels, it only displays every other horizontal rendered row... but if you put it back to directx mode, it renders fine.

I don't get it window 7 is own by microsoft and also truespace how come they did not
think of its compatibility in truespace and also hardware.

And also roman is under bill gates how come no bug fixes or releases to fix this problem,
from this forum I think he is active he should have already told microsoft that it has problem.

If no solution is found for the LE refresh problem trueSpace usable life will have ended because of Window 7 and not because of DX 11.

A bug with Microsoft? impossible!
Also I hope seven will be more useful. UAC of vista is the biggest crap that microsoft invented. Maybe it's good for programmers paranoid but when you are alone to use your pc, is annoying to ask permission to go pee.

MY solution is not unpgrade now and keep on current Windows XP and Windows Vista.

PS: Ask for refund if you bought it in near 30 days.

Would I be correct in assuming that trueServe and truePlay will operate correctly under Windows 7 ? If not, and if I want to have my own server, then I had better hurry and get another copy of XP as it soon will not be available!

I have a computer with XP only for TS (model side). When I work on full screen I forgot the OS and I have no problem. I prefer to wait before to use seven until I am sure there is no problem. I use another computer with Vista. It seem TS work better on XP.
