tS7 freezing

Post by splinters »

Having run tS for months now on my laptop I am finding that it is freezing if I make a change to a scene. At the moment I am trying to add an IBL light to a Deep Space Doris scene. When I add it I can no longer work on the scene and have to close it down. Any idea what might be happening or any possible fixes?

Many possibility:
1-It is a crash or the laptop is very slow when you add sometime on the scene? Maybe a problem of ram. Do you have new soft or update recently that can use ram?
2- Maybe you worked on model side with "bridge "off" and your laptop is now with bridge "on"
3- when a TS scene have problem (and not before) it is possible you have a bug in the scene. do you have the same problem with all the scene or only on this scene? If it is only with this scene, there is a way to past throught the bug (if it is a bug).

Yup, seems it was the Direct X.

God knows how, or what happened but I put it into wireframe mode (top right icon) as opposed to Direct X and the problems have disappeared. Just updated my Direct X runtime so I will see if it makes a difference but at least I can work now.... :D

EDIT: I can run in OpenGl mode too. Has something happened to make DirectX 11 to mess up the workspace in tS7?

DirectX? Ok. Here is some problems people can have with TS (model side):
- you can resolve most of problem if you refresh the vram. To do that right click on the DX icon. If the device is "direct3d HAL": choose the RGB emulation. Now you can use the solid mode without the problem due to the driver of the video card. The speed is less than the direct3d device but with a good cpu, you can work without problem.
- you can also resolve most of problem of refresh with this action: change the device to RGB simulation then immediatly choose the direct3d HAL. Now the refresh could be good (but only for this cession of TS. When you close then re open TS, you need to do the same thing (or keep the RGB simulation if it is enought for you).

Maybe it is not your case but this can help.
