This is based the first project in a woodworking book titled, "Making mechanical Marvels in Wood". I wanted to see if truespace physics could do it.
The scene file is attached. Load the scene, start physics and use the physics move tool to rotate the cam.
Truespace didn't have a linear constraint so I used a pair of fixation points far away from the follower to get the same kind of up down motion. I also learned that you can't turn physics off for passive objects, so I made the holes bigger to avoid contact with the base and the axles and thinned the moving pieces so they don't contact anything else. I also noticed there was no spring force, so I may avoid spring type sim motions in the future.
