I started TS7.6 on Windows 8 and did not see the VRay-Material-Editor in the Pick-Editor-Dropdown-Box
I can render with VRay, and I can asign Vray-materials, but suddenly the Editor switches back to D3D-Editor

Make sure this node is there:
/System/Material Editor/Material Editor/Vray Material Editor
if not got to:
\trueSpace761\tS\Scripts\preobjects\VrayME.rsobj
and replace it.

It is there, but I can not switch the Active Editor Panel to VRay

It seems to be part of an un official update ..Clinton will have to help you on this.

Try Right Mouse Button and select Reset on the Active Editor text.
