U3DAC August 2013 Accident
Do Not Lean on Railing
TS 7.6 model side, Daz Studio 4.5, Kerkythea. About two hours to this point.
I made a figure in Daz and posed the arm and hand then exported to obj. Imported into TS and removed the rest of the figure and placed the hand on the wall. Export to obj for KT.
I think I'll make the hand a little bigger.

Re: U3DAC August 2013 Accident
Thanks!
In Kerkythea with photon mapping my background plane (cityscape) is blurry. Are there camera settings to produce an image where everything is in focus regardless of distance?
Although KT is meant for realism I want an unrealistic, all in focus, TS-like, result for this.
MLT render keeps it all in focus but takes soooo long to render and then needs post processing so I want PM rendering.
The city photo is from morguefile.com
Edit: got an acceptable result in acceptable time with MLT but I still want to know about all-in-focus with PM.

Looking good!
Liking the concept. Are the textures final?

Re: U3DAC August 2013 Accident
Thanks! Textures not final but this one probably won't get a lot more work. Too much real world stuff.
Anyone know about the Kerkythea camera question above? Photographers? KT uses photography concepts like f-stop and aperture. What real camera settings would make almost everything near and far in focus?
You all make good entries and win this one. I want to see your ideas for challenge themes.

Nice! I hope you get some small breathers and improve it! It's a funny little frame.
Concerning the DOF: smaller the aperture = less blur; and the larger the F settings = the longer the field of focus (less DOF - sharper everything).

Thanks!
Looks like Kerkythea doesn't have aperture for the cameras. Tried large F numbers but didn't get all-in-focus effect. The mouse over help for F-number said that infinite F meant no blur. I set it to a bazillion, the box changed that to "#INF" and the background was still blurry. Moved the background plane close to the models. Better but still blurry. So I'll just use MLT.
I got the background plane to look right in Hobbit House. I'll check that sometime and see what I did.

Yes Kerkythea has settings for the aperture ! You also need the camera film size to be small and the aperture value to be largeFinis wrote:Thanks!

something around 22 or better pinhole ! and the size of the film 5mm height or even smaller and short focallength !
Remember that kerkythea is a physically correct render engine so you need to think unlike in Ts with physically correct settings.....
and to gain depth of field you can close the aperture and also use a smaller vitual film format.....
Kerkythea is no different then the 1000 $ Maxwell.. it doesnt have all the bells and wistlesof Maxwell.. but it has ALL the basics...

Re: U3DAC August 2013 Accident
Thanks Rayman. I expected the aperture to be labeled "aperture". I used the settings you showed, except I used 500x500 where you have 200x200 (tried that too), and got this. Similar settings still have the blurry background to various unacceptable degrees, quite blurry at best. That is with photon mapping. I can use MLT for this project with reasonable render time but I want to learn to control photon mapping for its speed.
I haven't checked Hobbit House to see how its background isn't blurred. Maybe that was an MLT render.
MLT doesn't have this problem and renders, as above, without the DOF blur. If you want the super realism of MLT wouldn't you also want the DOF? Why doesn't it have it?

Re: U3DAC August 2013 Accident
It depends on a few factors... one is how large a scene is.. and the object in it... it has to be in scale..
one checkerbox is a square meter I think I can remember...
second most important is the film size and the focal length next to it.. and third is the F stop......
the scenes settings I used here were 3mm height and 3mm facal length and pinnhole...
and on the blurry one 600mm height and 600mm focal lenght and F 1.0...
that should do it !

Thanks Rayman! Those are photon mapping renders right?
Tired now. worked until almost 9 pm. I'll look at those scene files soon.

Re: U3DAC August 2013 Accident
No more time for this. Could use more texture work and other improvements. TS 7.6 model side, Kerkythea with photon mapping, camera using Rayman's advice. I left a little dof hoping for a dizzying effect of distance and height.
