Win 7 64 Bit. Updateproblem Modelside

Post by Tiles »

I´ve finally switched to Win 7 now. Workspace works good so far. And the LE fix from September this year fixed the clear problem in the LE. But i haven`t found a solution yet for the Modeler quirk. It refuses to update the display from time to time. The whole image freezes. Just a very small portion of the screen shows that i navigate in the space. Resizing the app fixes the issue. Up to next time when it freezes again. Which is just a few minutes ahead.

Is this a known behaivour? Is there a fix for it?

Yeah, I have something similar on my Win 7 laptop. When I use the chamfer-tool (model-side) I can still change the view but the screen doesn't appear to move. I just have to navigate by feeling and hope I get the right perspective. It can be kinda annoying from time to time...

I had the same problem of refresh on model side with an old laptop and Vista. I found this solution:
right click on the direct 3d solid render and click on the Perspective correction to change the setting (if enabled change to disabled, if disabled change to enabled). The setting have no importance, it is only the fact to change the setting who resolve the problem of refresh. It work for me. I need to change the setting only one time when i start TS then the refresh is ok until i close TS. I think it activates a critical function display which should happen automatically when the program starts.
Maybe it is the same problem with win7.

I didn't upgraded to Win7 yet, but this compatibility bug seems annoying.

Does it happen if you run tS7.6 in some XP compatibility mode also ?

i think it is not a problem of OS (XP, Vista or win7). Bad refresh is a problem of driver. When you change your OS or your hardware or update maybe the new driver can have a problem. It is impossible to know if TS will have problem or not before try to change. too many different setting on the PC. All you can do is to try different setting with TS and the driver. I find a solution to resolve my problem but maybe it don't work for another pc.

Folks the more I hear about problems with TS on new OS´s the more I get the feeling there
is a reason why TS has been stopped developing......

Ohh, a conspiracy. What an interesting idea. Maybe we should investigate further :)

Also, the more I've started using TS on Win 7, the more problems pop up (only modelside). For example, just yesterday I was modeling and suddenly the perspective didn't update at all, no matter what I did. I tried what Marcel said earlier and it worked after trying two times. Still, it's very strange if you ask me...

Seems like this could be a driver (grafixCard) issue with model side.
Screen Refresh issues do come down to that kind of stuff.
I don't have a win7 system yet. Not lookig forword to one either,
partly because of this. Ok, Mostly !!!
Maybe, if we KEEP TRACK of what GraphicCards, driver updates ect...
we could find a card/ set-up that on average would work best with
Model side. Also, this issue could could eventually be fixed for us
(accidentally of course), as new drivers and cards come out from
time to time.
Hope Springs Eternal : But we could eventually LUCK OUT for once !!!

No conspiracy just the Truespace team had the Os´s before we did and found that it would be difficult to keep it working so they scraped further development....
thats just a guess i could be wrong though.....
Those are some major bugs ....

I have had a hardrive crash and are trying to do a RAID with my old XP from 2001 and the OS asks for drive rutines trough a floppy disk. I have no floppy disk installed!!! I have muddled through my old computers components and found a floppy disc reader which didn't work. I asked my friends about this and they all have MAC:s or no floppy disk reader.

I have decided to go to Win 7 and RAID1 (with mirror) and of my old computer parts build an extra computer for only XP and TS.

This is, I think (sadly), in a way show the future of TS7.

For time being, I am using an iMAC for surfing the net, until I have got everything right.
