Sounds like the software is great but the support is not.

Possibly the security settings you have are preventing a cookie or such from setup tab. Seems unlikely that would log you out but it might be that.

Someone who is on setup tab could search that forum for answers to that problem. Web search for it too.

Well somebody from the Moi forum said that they even charge for bugfixes....... ;)
He is a very respected guy from the moi forum.....

I got burned by them with bugs in Animate v3 - swore they'd never get my money again...

Looks like a good deal admittedly (especially if it works as advertised - this time around).

I agree, where does the money go if the goal isn't met?

-Will

PS - ^Yep, same with me - soft body stuff didn't work as advert'd (had a bug), expected me to shell out for v4 to get the "fix" - bye bye...

and here...
4028.11 In reply to 4028.10
It's not a scam, they claim a refund if the goal is not met so it seems like a safe bet.

Even though I swore never to give them money again, I have to admit $40 to get their top of the line package is a steal no matter how you look at it.

From my previous experience with them, I'm still going to abstain from giving them my money again.

I'll put this heed out there for the rest of you folks to think about as you consider buying into this package.

First, this is totally my opinion from my experience with the company. If things have changed since, when I dealt with them, then perhaps, all the better...

Messiah is a continual work in progress. A lot of software are works in progress. MoI is a work in progress.

However from my experience, when >bugs< are discovered in the software, typically they are not immediately fixed; the experience you enjoy here with Michael IS NOT what you're going to see with Messiah!

You won't see ALL of version 5's "stated features" FIXED and working BEFORE the move onto V6 - it's a rolling development where I'll say, "eventually" things get fixed as time moves on.

The majority of bugs are usually fixed within the next paid upgrade for the package - let this sink in as you consider buying into this package!

Unlike say Michael who completes ALL the stated features in a specific version, and then "teases" you to buy the next version by letting you play with a "Beta" of the upcoming features (thereby getting you >hooked<), these folks (IMO) hook you by fixing the bugs you've been complaining about, in the next version.
(Now I don't know about you, but I prefer Michael's way, which is way more of an "attractive" incentive than the frustration I've experienced with the Messiah folks - which turned into negative incentive in my case!)

If you come across a small bug, an annoyance at most, great, BUT if you find show stoppers with certain features (as I did), you can submit bug reports till your face turns blue but don't expect a FIX until it's time to pay again for the NEXT upgrade.

Keep this >business practice< in mind as you buy into this program and company...

It reminds me the future of the computer. Cloud and free for all but not the services. More bugs = more services = more money for them. See all the "cheap" apps for iPhone: 1$+1$+1$+1$+1$+1$+1$+ sorry now it's 2$ because you have no choose to see elsewhere and Hurry tomorrow will be 3$ !
Maybe a day when young people will become older they regret their good old computer they repaired themselves, being angry but a little richer.

Just keep in mind they are seperate entities. I have nothing but good things about Paula at PMG (the real tech support), over at SetupTab, well we all have discussed this issue here, I do not want to sound like I am piling on. I have no problems supporting a board I plan on frequenting and using. That was one of the reasons I donated here when Stenie had the little donate thing going on...

@Ray
Having previously owned messiah back in 2003 and V1.5, the pro version all 1K worth, back than he was correct... than there were only a couple of places to go to get support, Yahoo Groups had a messiah group and CGTalk... not fun, they were basically geared for pros and did not understand the needs of hobby guys, asking a question they felt showed you were a noob was often followed by an answer that if you followed their advice... well... you were a noob  I finally got frustrated having a thousand dollar software package with a slew of problems and lack of support.

When I purchased the V4 version back in 2009, it was a different piece of software, still some issues, but they fix them and offer patches, I think they were going to charge for V4.5 patch, but their was a small vocal uprising and I think they decided they should just fix the issues and offer it as a patch... I am a bit on the outs because of my voice in that one :) But hopefully with the influx of new people these type of issues don't happen again, they have a new lease on life and they can really make some money because of it (SetupTab and PMG)

That is y 1.99 worth :D , if you pay 20 dollars, I give you membership in my club, I let you read my weekly editorial on the 3D software industry and you get a decoder ring and a cool whistle :bananadevil:

Your probably right !
I have no experience with Messiah at all other then the few hours that i had with the trial and thought I´d pass on that statement i found in the other forum....because
its a negative comment and I thought it was interesting to see what all the talk was about...
For me the only negative is lack of collada like I said thats all..which makes it hard to use...if somone doesnt make an exporter for me..

Thanks Rayman! I find that your post have been really helpful. Shame really, it seems you did not understand my question.

Thanks Froo! It is not an email issue. Setup Tab Forum's software sucks big time and or how it is being used. I have been able to post a couple of post after deleting IE8's cache. It seems that the problem is related to using the "Always stay logged in" option. Among other issues like not be able to add a picture to a post. I suppose that cost another $2.99 as well.

What browser are you using? I have firefox... whatever the newest one is. The always logged in thing I do not think works anyway, I have to hit the logged in icon each time. I don't think I have ever put a pict in one of my posts though... hmm... very strange. Try logging yourself in as I described, maybe that helps... than maybe not.

To clarify: As you described in your post above, I too am always logged in, but I can not post or look at the new messages till I go over to the LOGIN icon, bottom right of the screen and hit it, than I can look through the new posts, post messages and such. Have you tried doing that? Maybe it helps? That's all I ,got buddy... sorry.

No I understood your problem pretty well... I just think that adding another thousand users to a group doesnt make the problems smaller then they were before....
and they looked like big enough before.....from what that guy I quoted had experienced....
You will probably not expect the same amount of support that people get for 1000 $ per year maintenance fee ...... for 40 $ (or 10 $) do you ?
This is not open source and its not Blender......
I answered Finis post that said that he thinks the support might not be good...
Well go figure if much more people use something and the money for hiring more support people in both the board and the tech supp. doesnt get more....
Maybe even the forum software wasnt set up for so many people....
Maybe there is a bug in there.... we had a dropout this week on this board too that I reported to Augusto !
Delete your board cookie as a starter and try again...

At Setup Tab I spent the $20 Membership fee to download the Beginner tutorials and get a discount on the others.
I also wanted to support the Board. In the Members Only Forum there is also two pieces of Software you get for free.

I use Firefox, Win XP and my settings is to always stay logged in. So far there
has never been a problem there.
I have reported two issues to WEG so far. The first is that the list of Members is loaded with Spammers.
The second issue is if you double click when downloading a tutorial and click cancel you are still charged for two
tutorial credits. He has reported the second issue to programmers and the first issue he wants to update the Board Software.
Hey I know he will have growing pains so no complaints from me. What gets me is how most of the user's there do everything for
a buck instead of for the good of the Community. Maybe that will change.

If I understand correctly the old timers at Setuptab are mostly professionals. So it seems acceptable for them to demand payment for their knowledge. It is not my style but I can see how they would be reluctant to train potential competitors. However, I'm disappointed to that they don't give more free advice. It is good to be nice to people. I have my own business and I don't "nickle and dime" my customers. Customers like simplicity. They don't like many small charges for every little thing.

That forum itself is probably a treasure trove of accumulated knowledge. Any other forums for Messiah users?

The setup tab community was hastily set up when the messiah cgtalk boards were downgraded to the "other" pile, a bit similar to how this forum was founded after the Caligari boards were about to close.

So, just like here, it was done in a hurry to save the community. I think they've done a pretty cool job, and the training is awesome.

Well, actually, the way it happened was that Setuptab was formed, then people
pretty much stopped going to the messiah forum on cgsociety, and *then*
after a while cgsociety made a separate section for less active forums, and
put the messiah forum in there. I observed it myself.

I saw that Wegg said it the way you say.....I don't know why he says that,
but it did happen this way.

you can see the truth of it on this thread:

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread. ... t=setuptab"

And here's the original announcement for the setuptab forums on
cgtalk's messiah forum:

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread. ... t=setuptab"

Just FYI....

Thanks to all that helped! I found out why I was not able to login properly. I was logging into Setup Tab through the Community link on the projectmessiah.com website.
IE: http://www.projectmessiah.com/x6/community.html"
instead of:
http://www.setuptab.com/"

The reason I am not able to upload a picture is because I am not a paying member.
