Trust me when I say that you aren't the only ones who have made such a comment about that movie I have never seen 2001 a space Odyssey but I really think I should now, it's a real classic.

Read the 2001 book first. Then see the movie.

The 2001 one talk distracted from your image. I like the image. It looks great in full color and full size but can also look good in gray or black and white versions and in different sizes so it is a good logo.

The book? I didn't even know there was a book, well I'll see if I can find it in the local library.

The movie is enough. First time I saw it was in the 70:thies and i have seen it a lot of times since then and still I am thinking of what the movie is about. That is what I say it's the "movie". Everytime I see it it give me a new thought about what it's about.

Tommy has a good point there. The movie is mysterious and that has its own appeal. The book has some mysterious aspects but mostly it reveals the mysteries as well presents some interesting ideas ... which is what Arthur C. Clarke is great at. So, reading the book first would spoil the mystery of the movie. I still think reading it is good but now I'll change to saying see the movie first and read the book later.

The fact that you can't seem to figure out which is the best is an interesting mystery on it's own

I think to read the book or to see the movie doesn't matter. I regard the movie as the top of the science fictions movies. The important thing, for me, is that the movie makes me think.

2001, still, after about 30 years of seeing it makes me thinking of what is about. (I have it fourtunaility on DVD) It's not a movie you see and then forget.

Is there a higher power out there in the space????????

I agree with Tommy, 2001 is such a great movie, and I never even saw the book '-'

I was lucky enough to see 2001 in Cinerama which consisted of a round screen and shot with three movie camera. Drug use was heavy by the viewers in the movie theater. If you have seen the ending of 2001 you will know why.

I read the book 2001, read the book "Making of 2001", saw 2010 and read the book 2010, I watched the dvd 2001, own the special edition blue ray 2001, read Mad Magazine's spoof of 2001... only to find that when we finally lived in 2001 it was really boring...

what I love about this movie is the length of the scenes. Today while going too fast. we do not take enough time to appreciate a picture. Especially in the police dramas on television with plans that last one or two seconds. it's so nice to take the time to dream.

I don't mind being the odd man out on this one.

The movie had a great premise, good beginning, but it all fell apart at the end.
'Full of stars'- meh, full of *something*, for sure.

I enjoyed '2010' a bit more, it had more meat on it's bones.
