Blender Alien Rig

Post by pugman 1 »

Hi all i managed to rig this geezer staight out of z brush into blender ,It needed a little bit
of weight painting but now works fine for animation.
That i find extreemly hard to do.
I think maybe i should of painted him first. still leaning all the time
Next i will try a more complex rig maybe with face rigged fingers and feet
Cheers Ralph

Yeah, animation is not for the faint hearted!! I study animation, and love it lots!!! Let me know if you need tips! (timing, rythym, keyframing, fcurves, clips, blending, ease-in-n-out, anticipation, reciprocation, etc)

Ok i took him into vue for anmation and noticed two little probs.
so back into blender for more weight painting, but somtimes the weight painting tool does
not respond how it should .It does not always select the bones you need to paint ,Bummer

Hmm... you need to think of a quick little story, like... with an intro (tada! I'm alien!) then a push (oh look, a rock!) then the first twist (the rock moves! wtf!) then the first solution (tries to stop the rock moving) then this goes on for a couple of times untill the dark point (I'm frustrated! Why won't it stop moving and annoying me!) then the climax (jumps on rock with resolve and begins to move with the rock, free transport!) then the resolution (the alien and the rock ride into the sunset together).

Once you have that figured out, it's a good idea to think of how you want him to move (like your little brother, the fat man on the street, the hot looking elegant Asian chick, or anything) then begin to plan drawing out the sequence of movements you need for the short film.

Once you have the idea thought up of what to do with him, you can then have fun and begin to animate, or make animation sequences, sets and scenery, or make his world, or make the series of worlds according to the shots you need! Or just give him a cool texture! :D

Good job on importing him into Vue!

Considering rigging... ANY program has big bugs with rigs, including maya, max, and softimage...... It's a delicate fine art to be taken patiently......
