For this challenge vi ... =66&t=5129 Steinie, is it ok if the main object is not in the box but it is apparent that it was in the box?

The alien unicycle planetary probe Earth Rover has emerged from its landing craft, the box, to explore.

At first I wanted the outer shell, the four curved surfaces, to be the box. The four surfaces would act like a turtle shell closing to protect it when needed and atmospheric entry. Its wheel and instruments would fold to fit inside of the box/closed shell. Maybe I'll do that version later.

Should the rover have four shell sections? Three?

I'm having no luck designing arms for it. It looks good as is but it needs at least one arm with a gripper and sensors to pick up stuff for the image. This arm doesn't fit with the rest of the style. Or does it? The arm(s) must be able to reach the ground and give the impression that it could fold into the main shell.

The arm(s) could come out of the bottom like the leg and the upper part would get more mysterious machinery instead. That would disturb the flower or organic look so that's not a good design.

Any suggestions?

A day late. Here is my challenge entry. Wow! That turned out good. I was working fast hoping to just get something ready and this just happened.

Earth Rover One

I have Plant Factory Exporter (free) to get free plants from E-On for the main version. They aren't generated and so don't meet challenge requirements so these are Plant Studio, Bryce, and Make Ivy plants.

I neglected to add the box lander's door or corner.

Thanks Steinie! What about the challenge? Another website trouble extension or what?

The colors need work. The lander and rover are too light. Need to add the bird nest, lander door and alienese labels. The box, the lander, has one corner as a door. Maybe it swings up on a hinge. I think it would be ejected from the box. Where should the door be in the picture?

I only see your entry for this Challenge. So I don't see a reason for voting. Why don't we come up with a fresh Challenge and get the ball rolling again.

New challenge then. I would have liked to see more entries for this one. It had plenty of room for creativity and different styles and talents. Ha, "plenty of room" if it fits in a 12x12x12 inch box!

Thanks Draise. I made a simplified representation of the rover with its wheel turned 90 degrees. Then I used Make Ivy to grow vines on it. Plant Factory has grow on object to do vines and cool shapes. Expensive so Make Ivy for me.
