Megalocerosaur - End of the wip

Post by marcel »

My first model made with Sculptris and Intuos tablet is ready. He is alive ! :)
It is not actually the final illustration. Created for hight definition image. The model have 550 000 polys. Textured and rendered with Bryce. I will do an image with several animal and decor.

Marcel,
After looking at your texture work a second time I have a question on how you used Bryce to texture? The UV map created within Sculptris is really odd.
Bringing that map into Bryce and trying to texture the Megaloserosaure's scales individually would be a challenge.
I'll post a sculptris u/v example from one of my characters to show the complexity.
So how did you do it?

@Steinie :
A simple way is to forget to deploy uv map. As you know I always look for simplicity.
Bryce can have different uv projection for each texture of a same material (impossible on TS). You can try to play with this nice method. at least you see what you draw and even overlay projection for an artistic effect.. :)

Marcel, would you show the texture images used? Like map_color1.jpg, map_color2.jpg in your example?

The final is a combination of procedural and drawing. But the light and the specularity of the sun are important.
