Shamu's Webcam in trueSpace!
OK this one's definitely goin into OurSpace! Oh man so so so so cool!!!!
We can use a paused activity loop (PAL) in lieu of a timer to show this
in OurSpace. THANK YOU FOR THE LINK TRUEBLUE!
EDIT: I added a timer, so it gets updated every 300 tics (forgot what that is: milliseconds?)
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/s ... php?t=6651"
EDIT 2:
Here is a simple scene, with the ShamuCamLive!, with a timer connected. Just load it into trueSpace or
truePlay after unzipping. The timer is already activated.
(may need to be careful with truePlay; not sure what effect an activated timer has, if you close the scene
with it active; can't remember but just in case! )

A timer or some control mechanism to create sequences is the basis for all my animated shaders. Previosuly TrueServe had problems with running timers and not sure if it is still present so now that I am getting nearer with a TrueServe project and need to start looking into this again. A paused activity loop I wonder with an adjustable counter makes me wonder if that would be more stable in an OurSpace scene.

Hey Noko, I am looking forward to seeing your project. I've always been most impressed with your work. From what I notice with Timers in Shared Space presently is the exported Active attributes do not work as expected. Also it is best to Take Control when running the Timer verses running it on the Server. Here is an example how to call the Timer from a button script:
Node.Value('%THIS_NAME%/Timer Event', 'SessionId') = Net.GetNodeSessionId('%THIS_NAME%/Timer Event', 0);
Node.Value('%THIS_NAME%/Timer Event', 'Active') = -1
and to turn it off:
Node.Value('%THIS_NAME%/Timer Event', 'Active') = 0;
Node.Value('%THIS_NAME%/Timer Event', 'SessionId') = '';
It is hard to say if an Activity Loop Event is more efficient as I can not tell the difference in performance. Also I not sure if it is possible to run one Local verses on a Server.

well, when I tested a paused activity loop in shared space, it seemed to cause, on average, a 50% less 'Dw:' (download) on all the participants.

Re: Shamu's Webcam in trueSpace!
I'll have to find an effective way to integrate one into the Teleporters scripting, which is like a forest of spaghetti in the Link Editor, lol. I'll probably be a week or more before I get to it though, I'm currently swamped with creating (and re-doping) online scenes.froo wrote:well, when I tested a paused activity loop in shared space, it seemed to cause, on average, a 50% less 'Dw:' (download) on all the participants.
Thanks for testing that Froo!

Yeah I love your fire shader that comes with trueSpace7.61, I just wish the related animation script was attached to it by default, lol... I know... I'm lazy!noko wrote:A timer or some control mechanism to create sequences is the basis for all my animated shaders. Oh hey... by the way.... do you still have that "Noko Torch" object I made you ages ago for that?

Thanks TB, I am definitely impress with your scripting ability, solutions, helpfullness and really the list goes on and on. Another option which Froo went into back in the day was a key frame timer, while expensive on the local machine I am not sure if it wouldn't be free for trueServe so alot of things to play around with.
hehe, 3dVis, of course I have your great torch, been keeping it for the right day
. That day is soon to be behold. Now where is that rascal . . ?
