Seems like a lot of sites are just scamming to get people to buy their products or services or worst yet just our hard earned mula. Recently, my employer a non-profit scared the hell out of me, and my fellow co-workers by forgetting to pay us one week. No notice, just some rumors of bankruptcy. Anyways, funds finally came in the following Monday and everyone finally took a good long breath. I was just wondering if anyone has found some alternative ways of scratching out a living, or better yet more then what we currently make working for some body else? Thanks, Leroy.

I work everywhere, home and customer's places. Consider starting your own business at home or not. Self employment fixes that getting fired problem and not knowing the financial situation of the company. But it is difficult to start and grow a business, today's America is a hostile environment to business and prosperity, you'll probably fail more than once to start one, and it will probably require money to invest. The freedom of being your own boss is priceless though. To me, going back to working for a boss is death. If you have plenty of drive, motivation, persistence, and discipline (I have none of those which is why I'm poor) you can succeed. If you can deal with employees your business can grow. You have an advantage of living in Texas which is better than many places for business.

Not because it's my line of work but because it is cheap to start and run: If you can do physical work (mostly stamina, medium lifting) and have or can get a beat up old truck try lawn care. The start up costs are small, expenses are tolerable, and you may have some equipment already. It can grow as slowly as you need or as quickly as the market and your ambition allow. You could face competition from illegal aliens in EP.

For a (very) little extra income print-on-demand place Zazzle isn't a rip off scheme. Not a significant source of income either. I did a little at there (here) and it is ok. If I put all the ideas I have on stuff there it could pay a bill each month.

That sounds good I need a job that's more active then my current job sitting on my butt for like 8 hours a day. I work in television, so I may also look into non-linear video editing production for profit as well. Leroy.

Still unemployed meself so there isn't much I can contribute to this conversation. I wouldn't mind working from home though. It would make my life much easier.

I have a friend who finally achieved his dream of working for himself.
He says it's great except the boss turned out to be an asshole and a slave-driver.
But other than that... :roll:

I'd love to work at home to make some extra income. Considering how much time I spent on the PC finding something that would make some extra cash would certainly help with the bottom line. I might try some technical writing as I enjoy writing how to do stuff. I found one website where they claim one can make money writing articles. They even claim that some national companies are contracting out customer service work to home based workers. Don't really know if it's on the up and up though. Mikom, what kind of work are you looking for anyways. You're a talented model maker so I would imagine working as a graphic artist might fit you nicely. Leroy.

I suppose the kind of work I would be looking for would be maybe some sort of concept visualization work, or just a concept artist/graphical artist at a company as long as it isn't an advertisement company. I've had enough experience with advertisement companies to know that it's a horribly un-interesting and pretentious business that puts no value on originality whatsoever.

I may start looking on ModDB / IndieDB again for work in an independent game company. Problem is, those positions are rarely payed work.
