I have Windows 8 Pro and wondering if downloading DX9 from Microsoft will help me run the older games better and with an improved FPS.
On windows 7 I had about 150-250 FPS
On Windows 8 I'm running about 30 FPS
Any gamer gurus know if downloading updates to DX9 would help?
note: Win 8 is DX 11.1 and something seems to be missing. I have no idea what it is though.

Didn't work. Had the most current driver, but I re-installed anyway. According to the GeForce Website it's not DX 11 compatible card.pugman 1 wrote:Hi james try updating your drivers for the vidio card for win 8 .

So, it may be time to upgrade.

DX is backwards compatibel... thus DX11 has features of DX9. There should be not a problem. Anyway, when you have DX11 (which is built in win7 and 8) you cannot install older. Or you can, but it will make no changes because the installer copies only newer files than you already have. You can try it, but i think it will do nothing.
Problem will be elsewhere. Dont know where. I would try different version of video drivers too.
