Recently i improved the sound quality on my PC for games, movies, music, only using my default sound system chipped inside my PC box, realtek chip sound on the mainboard, this method works only if you have a Realtek sound system on your mainboard, not a true card sound, in fact the realtek sound system is locked and i founded on internet some drivers that unlock the chip but also add EAX for games and more features, here the link for the drivers:

You need to uninstall the defaut realtek driver before installing the new, also don't forget to see what version you have if something go wrong then you can go back with your normal driver version.

On my PC the sound ouput is on a old HI-FI KENWOOD sound system (20 years old) with only the "3d surround" and "the exbass" features activated, here a photo from amazon, it's really the same that i have:



With these new realtek unlocked drivers now the sound is awesome on my PC when watching movie on my pc, the sound is more clear and accurate also more spatial and have good bass, i do nothing in the new realtek driver, no settings, i keep the default settings on the new realtek driver freshly installed.

The best way to see the improved sound it's to watch a movie with a lots effects sounds, like the avengers movie or others, select a part of the movie where there are a lots of explosions and debris sounds in the speakers, listen with your normal driver after install the new and rewatch the same part of the movie and see the difference, in my case this was the day and night.

Also i use this codec pack on my PC using media player classic for the movies and all videos: https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-l ... k_mega.htm, before i use the new realtek unlocked driver, i already improved the sound for my music, i always use winamp for playing music, i use it with some plugins that improve the sound, here what you need to improve the sound under Winamp.

1) Winamp 5: https://www.winamp.com/

2) Out wasapi plugin : http://out-yasapi.sourceforge.net/, the dll need to be copied in "plugins" folder of Winamp, and after set it in Winamp.

3) Enhancer 0.17 plugin : https://winampheritage.com/plugin/enhancer-017/81361, this create a enhancer folder inside the plugins folder of Winamp, for this one, i use the preset "Normal", and i actived "Power" and "Boost". This plugin is awesome you can't go back when listen the new sound output.

if you care about sound, just get some decent dedicated sounds card and some nice 5.1 speakers :) its worth it. I have had Asus Xonar DX for years as its PCI-E card.

I know that about dedicated sound card, before i bought my new PC, on my old PC i had a XFI extreme music card with 2.1 speakers, but my new PC have no more free slot on the mainboard i can only upgrade wih one new ram and new GPU card, this is the result when you bought a PC all-in-one, normally i bought all parts to build my own PC, but no this time with this new PC now 2 years old, the actual sound on my PC is enough for me but if this improve my sound this mean people that have more modern sound card will have a more better sound with these realtek unlocked driver.

I think there still exist external sound cards, that connect via USB. That thing should last long too. You can connect it to your next PC or to wherever you want.

Yep, i know this type of sound card, me i was happy with my XFi extreme music because for some games use it and also the ASIO support but now it's old sound card.
