REPLICATE/DESIGN A SHIP! - U3DA Graphic Art Challenge

This month's challenge is to replicate or design the best space/atmospheric ship following concept designs provided below.

There are 3 class of ships, pertaining to 3 particular designs and requirements. You may choose one, or as many as you'd like.

1. Freighter - A ship designed to withstand repeated extreme heat, wear and tear upon atmosphere reentry accompanied by adaptable side airfoils, ability to commute long distances, bounce on high altitude atmospheres for global commute with minimal damage, VTOL for easy drop off's and pickups, large cargo capacity, large life support and fuel capacity for inter planetary commute's, and sufficient engine capacity for ease of escaping any orbit provided.

2. Harvester Freighter - A ship designed principally for atmospheric transport for short distances, adaptable high efficient hybrid turbines, air dynamically efficient, semi large cargo hold for liquid or solid state cargo's, VTOL for easy drop off's and pickups, limited inter planetary ability with replaceable onetime solid fuel engines and reentry shielding.

3. Scout Vessel - A ship designed principally for high speed and high maneuverability in atmospheric conditions for rapid exploration into unknown planetary environments, air dynamically efficient, low cargo capacity, large life support, VTOL for landing in tight locations, limited inter planetary ability with sufficient engine capacity for ease of escaping any orbit provided, limited replaceable reentry shielding, limited weaponry for self defense from hostile encounters, mapping and scanning sensors.

Conditions:

-Entries will be accepted until 2400 EST, 31st of May, 2012. Voting will commence immediately untill the 2400 EST, 5 of June, 2012.
-The entries must resemble the ship's class concept art or include the ship's class technical requirements. These will be the judging factors.
-The entry must require 1-3 beauty shots no larger than 1024x1024. Link to large images are accepted.
-The entry must require an *.obj, *.fbx, or *.x of the model available for download or attached in a *.zip file with the entry
-The entry must not contain more than 35,000 polygons
-[optional] The entry can contain 1-3 wireframes no larger than 1024x1024
-[optional] Start a WIP and share your progress!

Terms:
-In uploading your design, you agree to retract all copyright to the host of the competition as to how the model may be used and/or redistributed with the guarantee of a creditable creative commons license with modification and redistribution and monetary permission upon use of your model.

Prize:
-Right to host the next challenge!
-The right to have their design credited to you in a 3D scifi film that will one day be made!
-My latest development in a 64 ray REALTIME Ambient Occlusion light rig for WS of trueSpace!
-And a super fantastic collection of Scifi Spaceship concept art collected from the depths of the internet!
All images have been downloaded off tumblr and CG hub free. I do not take ownership nor right to any images given. If you win the package and wish me to credit or delete any of the given images, I will do so.

Here is a preview of the AO light rig in almost realtime that will be included in the prize!

At these current setting for the beauty shot, with an ATI FirePro V5800 I am running maybe 5 frames a second. I will test it on my newer card, with better settings. Because these settings are a bit too high for this card. But with 65 "ray" shadowmaps, the false AO almost reaches professional levels at almost realtime within trueSpace.

The card specs at the moment are at:

GPU
Stream Processors: 800mhz
Memory Interface: 128-bit

Memory
Size/Type: 1GB GDDR5

Harvester Freighter - A ship designed principally for atmospheric transport for short distances, adaptable high
efficient hybrid turbines, air dynamically efficient, semi large cargo hold for liquid or solid state cargo's, limited inter planetary ability with replaceable onetime solid fuel engines and reentry shielding.

Bulk of Polygons made from turbine engines. Polygon count of aircraft is quite low (456 polygons)making it idea for a background prop.

Harvester Medium Space Freight (Final_Folder.zip ) with OBJ and MTL file. LOCATED in DISCUSSION Thread.

Modeling: Hexagon
Texturing: Carrara Shaders for main body, some shading domains
marked in Hexagon (should come through as texture maps)
Render: Carrara 8.5 Pro Beta

Scout Ship
- sketch up

** WARNING and USING OF THIS MODEL **
- this model is under license IDCL (I don't care license)
- in case of violation you can bring this to the "united nations" general assembly and the U.N security council
- warning and full caution " using of the model will instantly run a script that make your computer memory and cpu
run faster and use less resources, low energy consumption & your graphic cards will be able to render and handle
godzillion of polygon. (don't tell me I didn't warn you)

ps. sketch up export model triangulated and once in blender when you smooth the model (not the subdivision thing "SDS") the model turn bad I recommend adding a remesh modifier to fix the model and applied it to it so that it will not look bad ( I din't remesh it cause my pc cannot handle high input on remesh modifier.

Yeah! All good. Your ship does look amazing and I'm sure even better when finished. I didn't enter the entry because the time ran out, but you are certainly mentioned as an honorable WIP!

and... between you and me... I think I could use your base mesh for the film..... ;)
