SMC #58: Bridge
This Challenge is to create nice bridge.

1) Use any 3D software you choose.
2) Create the model(s) within a 4 hour time limit.
4) You may enter as many times as you wish.
3) Your entry will also include a wireframe screen grab before SDS (subdivision) has been applied. This is included to help others learn modeling techniques.
4) Include time spent, software/version and render engine used with your submission.
5) Post one render per entry at 800 x 600 pixels.
6) Render, Lighting, and Texturing are not included within the 4 hour time limit.

Deadline: the end of January 18th 2011. More time because it's the holiday season. If it's too much or too little, it can be adjusted.

Classic wooden bridge. Modeled in SolidWorks 2007
Textured in UU3D.
Overall elapsed time ca. 3,5 h. (Includes texture production, using Imagesynth2 from Luxology and Shadermap for normal maps)

Here is the realtime screenshot in game engine DX-Studio http://www.dxstudio.com/
And how it looks in TrueSpace (wireframe)

A Suspension Bridge modeled in MoI & textured in TS 7.61 WS.
Texture mapping & extra poly modeling is still a WIP.

Here is another bridge. The towers and cables look a little like sails.

Modeling: about 2.5 hours.
Texturing: about 15 minutes.
Lighting: about 30 seconds.
Rendering: 2 to 3 minutes with lightworks on 2.6GHz dual core. Raycast. 2x antialias.
Background is photo on a plane behind the bridge.

Ts 7.6 model side. Bend tool, global replace, radial array, Boolean, some point editing, one sky light.

Here is mine. A suspension bridge
I used Moi3d for the main modeling that took around 45 minutes I then exported with the Skp format to Sketchup and finished the
model there... that took another 30 minutes......
I textured the bridge inside Sketchup and made the buildings in there too.... that took another hour.
i made a multipass render and that took ages inside Vue 8 inf. (my computer has a problem of some kind that I must solve soon)
The main thing was that I used texture clipping to fake the strutting and the small detailed modeling of the bridge.....
