KA-50 WIP

Post by Steve »

Another "half way through" WIP. This time of a helicopter that is by no doubt one of the most unique helicopters in the world

Single seat
Can carry up to 12 AGM missiles
The pilot can eject, the rotor blades detach and then pilot ejects
Co-axial
Used by the Spetsnaz

If this counts as the gun in Finis's challenge then good, if not, eeehhhhh I'll bodge up that super soaker *at some point*

Interesting helicopter, I never seen something like this! But another thing I never seen before, is your quality of modeling! :bananathumb:

Great chopper. Look forward to seeing more.

"... is your quality of modeling!" Yes. You do very impressive work.

Duel: Well it is for fun so it is up to you what you want to duel with. "Choose your weapon". This chopper is a weapon.

Otherwise while the duel is for fun I would like to compare my skills to yours on a project where the subject is comparable ... for me to see if I'm any good now days. If you want to do a non "bodged up" item for it then how about we extend the duel deadline to the end of February? That way we can both do quality jobs. Just fun bodged up is fine too.

I'm seriously think about ask prodigy to create a new section at Challenges called Duel, and there you ask any other member to duel with you in any subject (weapons, houses, vehicles, etc) with a certain time like.
Example:
I challenge Finis to duel with me! You have until 25 january to build your best submarine!
Will you run? Muahaha

I think that it would give a lot of fun! (Hope Prodigy reads this thread....I mean, I'll send a message linking to this.)

What do you think guys?

Weevil: Uh, I was going to ask for a wire frame of the helicopter but then I realized that this is a WIP so there will be some.

Leon: How about you start a thread about that section in the general discussion area.

Where is the WIP? I just see an almost completed model.
Awesome modeling by the way.

Very nice detail. And nice design as well.

When I viewed your image I got a threat warning. Norton doesn’t like deviant art. Says the site has distributed 3 viruses. Two of the three mid level threats.

I thought it was just me. I get that too and I got a 404 (page not found) when I tried to see Norton's details. However, I think I have some malware on my machine. Maybe you're infected too.

Steinie: I think it is a retro-wip.

Edit: I get the Norton warning with the link from this thread but if I type the deviant art url in and go to Weevil's page from the search I get no warnings.

Funny you should say mail ware since it was the one listed as low threat level in the details page. Also I am sure this machine is clean. Haven’t had it long enough to get infected. Yes it’s the storage site .net that was listed with Norton. This image is fine.

Terrific modeling Weevil. :bananacool2: :bananacool2:
Would love to see a wireframe or two. Would also like to know how you did the canopy area as well if you can spare a mo to explain as I made a complete hash of it on my Bond helicopter.

Very nice looking helo you've got there. The KA-50 has always been a mystery to me, I doubt I'll ever understand, nor care to, how the rotor system is setup and neither of the blades ever touch the other. As long as it works, it doesn't matter! Great modeling!
