making a music "video" in TS 761

Post by leevviiJ »

I have been working on this for ages, its a song by myself, and a good friend from Finland. Its basically taught me to use truespace, i used for just that purpose, through its many incarnations [i started on a different song, then changed again, before settling on this one] I just cant leave alone, its got me in [animation].

Its mostly my own modelling, with a few "borrows", the instruments/stage is purpose built, and really quite basic in geometry. The actors were the biggest challenge for me, Im a nurse, so anatomy/human body stuff is the easy part, geometry and manipulating goemtrics is not, the characters suffer due to this, the mouth was poorly designed and lip sync is OK but not near perfect. Also the joints seem to fold unnaturally, but it has taught me the importance of planning and construction of the model [as have numerous tutorial vids that i have watched, thanks guys very helpful indeed]. Cacaphony was invaluable also.

It aint no cutting edge stuff, no oscar im sure, and definately not photorealistic, just a pet project that i wont let die. Any hints/comments/abuse would be appreciated, especially hints on rendering and lighting, it still has that "pretty ordinary" look about it, so suggest away.

this is the rough edit of the intro to the song [Manufactured Fantasy - Spiral/Leevvii] -used Xvid codec, AVI package, on the original upload. I dont think it matters on a youtube vid, should still play.

Lip sync, was done the old fashioned way, matching to video, The models mouth would not form the "O" shape very well [poor geo design on my part.] and some lip shapes cause unwanted folding around the mouth area. This vid doesnt have any eye/brow or cheek anim, it purely lip sync.

PS, i have gotten sidetracked at present, we have a vid contest going on at another forum, closes end of Feb, theme is "what makes you laugh"[probably one of the hardest to put on tape IMO] . I thought id spare everyone my infamous stand up comedy routines and try to make an outake reel of the music vid, i may have bitten off more than i can chew, but im lovin it!!

very good!

I've used CrazyTalk for animating voice along with facial expressions. It' s a 2D program, but with a good 2D representation and a separate background available, it's quite good and fast at animating lips, eyes, facial expressions.
