Some of you might of heard of this already...
bottom line you render a scene and change the colors or textures afterwards with colimo in postprocess..
together with relight in Maxwell or Thea you can change everything like lights and textures and colors AFTER the render...
Some of the render engines will be supported... mainly Mental ray but from next version also Thea...
Maxwell is also supported...
Also Modo 501.. supported..
a license goes for € 139+Vat thats around 150 $

This might be bad for my hobby of watching things render slowly.

Re: COLIMO.....
Great to be able to change render things in real time but there are systems like Octane that don't require quadrillion dollar software like MentalRay or Maxwell.

Finis you have that quadrillion dollar phenomenon...Finis wrote:Great to be able to change render things in real time but there are systems like Octane that don't require quadrillion dollar software like MentalRay or Maxwell.

Whenever i post something about software you seem to think its not in the budget of mortals..
I wouldnt be posting about it otherwise.....
All you need is a Thea license and thats a third of the price of a Vray license (standalone) and half of what Truespace 7 costed when it came out.....
I think some of you cant rember that Truespace without a special actually costed money around 500 $...
its over 200 $ for Thea and its around 150 $ for Colimo (about w2hatr Truespace plugin paks costed)... again you dont need to own everything but if you run a business like a kitchen supplier and have clients its a very good way of showing your clients the different surface finishes.. or if you sell cars you can show tbhe car in different colors.. for business use something like 400 $ isnt an arm and a leg... and its certainly NOT a Quadrilion dollars...
Its also a very good solution for people who make professional gardening for other people... you can make pictures of different plantings and show
your clients in realtime how the garden will look like in the end on the fly right in front of them with textures and colors that you swap in and out..
Did you know that Thea works like Oktane in realtime and you can change the lights in realtime AFTER the render is finished its called relighting..... but without the
hardware stress.....
Peter
P.S.: I dont have Mental ray nor do I have Maxwell... !

Thea is a fantastic render engine not very different from Maxwell and Fryrender...pugman 1 wrote:This is to Rayman or any other thea user ,just wanted to know if thearender is as good as they show in the net.

its actually 2 render engines in one biased like Vray and unbiased like Maxwell....
Its also a realtime render engine for screen sizes....
Its same quality but 30 % of the price of those other render engines and it will fully support Colimo and supports relighting so that you can change lights AND surfaces in postpro...
It has an exporter for many apps including Blender and Modo.and many others......
Would have an exporter for Truespace(via Kerkythea files)but some people convinced Jack (Edwards) that a Yaffaray implementation would be better.. Oh well....

Re: COLIMO.....
I don't have quadrillion dollar phenomenon Rayman. I know there is good cheap stuff. It was not clear earlier in the thread, or I didn't read thoroughly enough, to see that Thea supported Colimo. Agreed that Thea is great. Kerkythea too and other free or cheap renderers. That many systems like Thea now have realtime rendering is one reason I questioned Colimo's desirability. The other is that I mistakenly though it only supported the mega-expensive renderers.
Sure, if you are doing business even high dollar items, like Maxwell or Mental ray, might be more profitable for you than cheaper ones. That is why the expensive systems are still around. I have an expensive line trimmer for my business for that reason. Jeffroig has Maya!
