Hi and Wow!

Post by SnapperTrx »

Hello! Just wanted to say 'Hi!' to everyone and 'Wow!' as well! I started using truespace a loooooong time ago and, after it was shut down, I thought that was the end of it. I have tried using other modelling software, but I hate it! TS is so ingrained into my brain my hands still remember all my hotkeys! It is so awesome to find an online community still dedicated to this great software! Hoping I will get to utilize this board more in the future, and hoping that I can lead others here as well!

In the meantime, here is a quick image. Created this sword in TS, imported and rendered it in DAZstudio.

Welcome!

Yeah, I still haven't figured out how to model in any other software - well for poly modeling that is. Know how you feel! I use the great viewport of the WS and the minimalized yet effective tool and workflow really helps me model relatively quite quickly.

Cool sword. :bananadevil:

What other work have you been doing? Would love to see!

Dito, here too. Truespace really has a very cool modeling interface that's quite simple to learn. I've yet too find a better model making tool. I prefer the older interface though. I'm glad to see another TS user on the forum. Welcome, Leroy.

I had, at one time, a large library of TS models I had made. Mostly weapons, but a few characters as well. I have since lost all of that and have been working on rebuilding. I use TS along with DAZstudio so I can custom arm my characters and that is about the extent of my modelling right now. I need to work on recreating a very important character I once had, but I don't know if my skill is up to par to get the result I want. I will continue to work on smaller items until I feel comfortable. Here is a small example of my sword/character combination.

that is a cool character... this is a very difficult discipline (at least for me, i tried some too)

maybe you can write more about tS to DAZ conversion - the workflow and what do you need to do to have it rendered like this. If the material conversion is fast and easy etc.

Welcome to this forum :)

Ha ha! It would be a short document! I did not model the character. She was made in Studio using Genesis 2 Female. As for the sword, well, I just exported it as a wavefront .obj and imported it into studio. I finished it up by using Studio's VRAY materials to add color to all the parts and BAM! Done! Studio is great for character creation but man, those guys at DAZ3D do not know anything about how to document what all the bells and whistles of their software do. I pulled some models from FFXIV into Studio and tried to add bones so I could pose them, but I cannot figure it out to save my life. The documentation is spotty at best and for some reason the search function of their forum pages is missing. Oh well, I guess I'll stick to what I know.

(oh, and, it's tough to see, but I also modelled the bracelet she is wearing on her right wrist. Same process. Made in TS, exported as .obj and imported into and colored in Studio.)
