Musikman,
Better yet ask Clintonman if we could put his tS Manual index creator here.
I'm afraid a link to it will die soon.

Hi Musikman,

Thanks for posting Clintonman's search index link.

Unfortunately, I had trouble with Clintonman's main "ts76_manual.html" page. The Caligari Corp graphic did not appear at the top and the only link that worked was the "Index" link at the bottom. None of the chapter links worked. I'm using IE8 under Windows XP SP3.

I examined the html code of the page with Notepad and compared it to the original Caligari webpage and could not identify any syntax errors. It was baffling. My guess is that the html file was corrupt in some way that was not visible to Notepad.

So I recreated the page from the original Caligari version and attached a zipped copy below. All of the links work, including the link to Clintonman's index. Plus, I improved the layout a bit---the chapter numbers ran into the subjects and I added some space.

What I originally had in mind with my earlier suggestion was a more traditional index like you'd expect to see in the back of a book. Plus, if all of the chapters were combined into a single file, you could use Adobe Reader's native search capability to look for any word or phrase in the text without having to create a special search index.

But I don't think that I'll put further time into it unless it becomes an issue in my own work with trueSpace. "Thank you" to Clintonman for kindly making his search index available to all.

Best regards, First Light

Hi First Light

Yes I also noticed only the index link at the bottom worked, but I wasn't as ambitious as you were, I just thought it was supposed to work that way! ;)

Thanks for posting the revamped zip, much appreciated.

That's what I had in mind also, but I figure if I'm going to look up a word to find where the topic is located, there's really no difference to type it in to the search engine. Also, what I really like about Clintonman's search tool is that it will give you multiple choices sometimes on the same topic, and you can choose the specific application of the word you're searching. The chapters combined to a single file would definitely be of help, I'm surprised they were not set up that way from the start. Maybe the video links throughout the chapters had something to do with that.

Best Regards,

Hi, just found this thread today. Do feel free to move the files to this forum. That problem with the html file was a weird one. I loaded the file into my editor then saved it fresh and that's all it took to fix it. I updated the original thread with the updated html file.

It looks like the problem is in the cali forum storage. I'm uploading here to see if it's better.

Edit: Same problem. If I zip and unzip on my computer it works. If I zip, upload, download and unzip it stops working. :?

Edit: Zip problem for sure. I rar compressed, uploaded, downloaded and uncompressed and it works.

Edit: Got it working. Problem was caused by windows security on downloaded files.

To fix the "ts76_manual.html" file:

1. right click on it and open it's properties
2. click the "Unblock" button
3. click OK and now it should work
