I ran out of time and did not figure out how to get better fluffy volumetric clouds (help would be appreciated here). If there is sufficient interest I would be prepared to do a retrospective WIP, although it was pretty simple (due to my simple skill base

VueSpace:Following the Red Thread
Spurred into action by the annual Vue competition this is a Vue render with islands and thread created in trueSpace, hence VueSpace. It is an attempt to play with perspective and was inspired by the favourite phrase of my boss when looking at the presentation of research "Where is the Red Thread" -the thing that links it all together.

Fluffly clouds can be made pretty easily with the metaclouds objects that are under objects in the pulldown and there are quite some presets.....CdeB wrote: I ran out of time and did not figure out how to get better fluffy volumetric clouds (help would be appreciated here).
dont cover the whole scene with them as they can turn into a solid walls ... use them sparsely...
and use low light to show the contrast...
remember our little project with the clathrin fun to be on the same software.. and road.. we are making an animation with vue 8community project.

Re: VueSpace:Following the Red Thread
Hi Rayman,
Sorry for the delayed reply...I have been re-living my youth by going to a rock concert the otherside of the country and spending the night with several friends in sleeping bags on a hard wooden floor (not as bad as I thought it might be)...only one member of the band has grey hair but they are around my age...so I am suspicious hair dye is involved
(- but you can hide a lot underneath a hat!)
Anyway, thanks for the hint re- clouds. I was following a tutorial to get the cloud effect I wanted and they apparently were just using specular clouds...but your solution would certainly be a good one..
I have been using OBJ format for going between the two programs (tS and Vue) which seems to work well. I did also (with a special offer) get the Exporter module for Vue which is supposed to export native trueSpace files...but I now note it is for a much earlier version of trueSpace...which doesn't make much sense. (Unfortunately with trueSpaces official demise, I doubt they will be in a rush to make the export more uptodate
).I wanted to get intact landscapes (not I know possible for Ecosystem-based components) back into trueSpace. I love clouds too and kindaof hoped to be able to import them into trueSpace, not just as background but at real objects...but so far this doesn't seem possible. I also note that W!zard (a seasoned Vue user) uses OBJ format to move between the two programs, which makes me suspect you can't really do it with trueSpace native files. Anyway, I have a new idea for a VueSpace picture (again playing with perspective), in which I will mostly build the objects in trueSpace as in the current picture.
..In the end for the kind of landscape pictures that I am trying to move into will have a trueSpace, 3D-coat, Vue workflow which I guess is also similar to yours RAYMAN

Re: VueSpace:Following the Red Thread
We are going the other way round from Truespace to Vue.
Its not of any use to get athmospheres and clouds into Truespace but we now have a few options to get animations from Truespace
into Vue. One is to import into vue with Collada which even works with physics
vi ... ?f=4&t=197"
the other is using sequencial obj files with Froo´s new obj exporter...
So you would even be able to get vertex animations out of Ts into Vue.
Same works with all the Blender goodies including cloth, particles and fluids.....
If you have any questions please ask we are very much into it at the moment !

Just a note; vertex animation support is not part of the package just yet. Working on it though.RAYMAN wrote: the other is using sequencial obj files with Froo´s new obj exporter...

EDIT:
Got the script command working, so vertex animation / morphs will be available with the workspace obj exporter in the near future.

Re: VueSpace:Following the Red Thread
Dan, if you have not already, you should read the posts by wizard regarding using both sides together. It is becoming quite a necessity to really get the best of both worlds.
I really like the point editing tools on workspace so I tend to do most of my modelling on that side now.
I will continue to use the model side for animation and rendering for the most part.

Hi Danx and v3rd3.
DanX: do you mean, exporting a sequence of OBJ files? Or, exporting a movie file / series of image files?
Just want to make sure.
It sounds like there is an interest in doing this for model side. And, it also sounds like there is still demand
for other Model side plugins too. I really wish that coder folks here could pick up the ball and run with it!
It's the only way to get the tools out there. I can try to make more articles and try to make tutorials for Workspace
coding but I need an audience man! Heeellloo!!!
Off the top of my head, how to do it: Write a script to call LUUV repeatedly or, better, use the built-in truespace OBJ exporter
on Model side. It may be possible to call the TS OBJ exporter from script or plugin, via a command line interface. I am not sure
about that. As I recall though, LUUV is better than the TS exporter.

Well though the update is not ready yet, here is the script node to use with it.
Load it into the LE and see what you think. You insert this into your procedural animation loop in the LE.
This can be used with Vue, for procedural animation export from Workspace; that's why I was posting it here.

Re: VueSpace:Following the Red Thread
Hey froo... the spirit to do an awful lot of things is there... its just time right now.... I have a lot of projects I am currently involved in so my time to develop my coding skills for the next couple of months is next to none.....
I also have to decide whether this is a hobby or a developing business model.....
