A word of caution about installing the TS updates!
I recently applied the two updates for TS 7.6 and 7.61 and now both don't want to run anymore. It's really frustrating to have to reinstall what with all the existing artwork that I've completed over the years, so I highly suggest Windows users set a restore point prior to applying the patches to avoid the same issue. Re: A word of caution about installing the TS updates!
The links posted on the forum. I don't know what went wrong though? As I said, setting a restore point just seems like a common sense step rather then going through the aggravation of having to uninstall and reinstall what with all the models I had stored in the library folders, TSX, RSX, miscellaneous stuff stored in other folders, etc. I reinstalled 7.61 w/o the update this time, but may do the patch again at some later date. It worked out okay though as I got rid of the original 7.6 install as it just seemed unnecessary. Leroy.

What updates you have used, my updates ? If it's my updates you need to follow the intructions in the txt file or my trueSpace page, that's say it's better to reinstall trueSpace in fresh install, don't apply these patches on already trueSpace patched, the best way is to make a folder where you can put your personnal work files temporary, and after you can copy your files in the fresh trueSpace, i have tested several times my updates and never encounter problem. Here my trueSpace page: Unofficial patch trueSpace December 2013.
EDIT: for the moment my homepage is down, need to investigate to find the problem, sorry.

This is the third person that has reported problems with your patch. Two of them reported what the problem was. You replied to them but you have done nothing to fix the problem.Cellulo wrote:What updates you have used, my updates ? Please change the name of your patch so it is not confused with the "Unofficial Updates" that I created here:

Re: A word of caution about installing the TS updates!
Hey truBlue, i have changed the name of my update in addon, i don't have windows 8 to test my addon, i have only my win xp 32bit to do my test and for the moment i have no problem when installing trueSpace to have a fresh install. I see that Rhino169 and JimB have windows 8.1, how i can fix theirs problems if i don't have the OS for testing the addon, i need to upgrade my OS
but for the moment no money for this.

So you are okay with people installing your update that prevents them from opening and using trueSpace?

I run windows windows 8 and 8.1. I can help with the testing before it should go public, I suggest.

It seems very simple to me.Cellulo wrote:Hey truBlue, i have changed the name of my update in addon, i don't have windows 8 to test my addon, i have only my win xp 32bit to do my test and for the moment i have no problem when installing trueSpace to have a fresh install. JimB wrote:Thanks Rhino169, Shader Magic indeed was the culprit I removed it and TS starts as normal.

Re: A word of caution about installing the TS updates!
If possible please post a link to the stable updates and possibly remove the problematic ones as I don't see a point keeping them listed for others to find and install, and do by all means set a restore point prior to installing the updates as a sanity check. Thx, Leroy.

There is free virtualization software like VMWare or is Virtualbox. And there is a three months testing version of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1i don't have windows 8 to test my addon,

Too late to test out 8.1 I think. My testing version expired January 15 and I was forced to get the upgrade (albeit free) because I lost my rollback USB to Windows 8.Tiles wrote:There is free virtualization software like VMWare or is Virtualbox. Re: A word of caution about installing the TS updates!
I have resolved the bug for shadermagic, the "shadermagic.tss" create a memory leak under Windows 8.1, i have downloaded a new shadermagic.tss file in 1.03 version from the old gallo website homepage here http://web.archive.org/web/200308040511 ... /index.htm and that's works fine now under Windows 8.1 no error when launching TS 7.6, i can test my addon under windows 8.1 on my PC 's brother recently upgraded in Windows 8.1. Rhino169 are right, it's shadermagic that create this nasty bug. No need to remove shadermagic files now.
Also, i have sucessfully merge in one setup file, TS 7.6 original setup with unofficial update files but without my addon. i continu my test under windows 8.1 and add later PDF and VIDEO files in the one setup file. After i retry the same processus for TS 7.61 full and standalone.
