Data center
Data center "Giger". Skulls blood metal. This is my little tribute to the late artist.

Well done. You captured the Giger style well.

What is the function of the tubes coming out of the eyes? And the nose?marcel wrote:This is my...tribute to the late artist.

Re: Data center
Exactly the same functions as the tubes that come on top of the skull.

And what's that?marcel wrote:Exactly the same functions as the tubes that come on top of the skull.
I only ask 'cos it seems to me that HR Giger was very analytical about his bio-mechs, they were believable and therefore scary because of the logic behind their construction.
I am not questioning your abilities in 3D realisation, just your aims.

Re: Data center
Well... being a data center, I assume they use bio-nueral CPU's with neural processing to store process data, but uplink them to and from different areas and other CPU via those cables. The optic nerves probably have a high bandwidth, thus the eye cables, then the other ones through the other areas have immediate access to other areas of the neural circuits. The skulls molding into the central tower probably are linked to spinal like systems and other main organs functions/tubes/bio-matter that keep the brain computers alive, but they didn't bio-engineer the brains and their skulls to be any creature at all, just to process and store info, so they used a base skull genetics which looks dead, and didn't bother re-engineer anything else, just what was needed to keep the brain alive and computing. To avoid decay and contamination of the brain computers, self healing iron alloys are sprayed on the surface of the skull.
So as a data center, they used actual bio-engineered neuron computing for storage and data.
Just a personal interpretation.
I like your work Marcel, it's awesome, very quick turnover, you put this one out real fast! Man, I wish I had your kind of discipline!

Re: Data center
@ Saul (my answer was of humor
).
This is not real biomechanics. It is "alive metal" which has the form of a skeleton.
Cables datacenter are like veins. They pass through the holes in the skull to symbolize the senses like hearing or sight so that the skull is not perceived as death. The metal is irrigated as a living being. The color used to support this idea.
(I hope Google translate work well because i have a bad english to explain.)

@ Draise
Good anlysis but this is not exactly a technology that uses neural capacities of life. This is 100% artificial. The shape of the skull is a delirium of the designer datacenter.
