Modeling a wheel rim
Been contuning to work on this bmw wheel and though I would post an updated image. I starte the first post in the Tech area. It still needs some more fine tuning to get out some kinks, but I learning a lot about working with ts6.6 as most of modeling (90%) was done on model side of ts 761 (which is really ts6.6).

Re: Modeling a wheel rim
What you are describing is possibly a result of non-quad geometry creating rendering artifacts in the area affected. If you go to http://www.guerillacg.com/ they have a series of tutorials on cg basic that help a great deal. Included in one of them, I don't remember which one exactly, is a demonstration of the effects of non-quad geometry and some ideas of how to repair it.

Yes , this is one area that needs some work. I think I jsut need to add some more edges. Attached is wire view.I agree. A very nice job.
I see something odd that the surfaces are not smooth enough. The arrows are pointing at it.
I have had the same problem a time ago (if it's a problem ) and couldn't solve it.
Do you have any suggestion?

Re: Modeling a wheel rim
Yes it is better now. Use SDS need to avoid too many edges converging to the same point. Even if there is only quad.

Great stuff, I love high poly models like this and seeing how different folk sort their quads out. Keep up the good work.

Perfect! Great work, I had following you since the Tech Forum! Also I liked how you arranged the edges, vertices, etc... I still don't know this area.
