Futuristic Bicycle Race - Bouncing Bunny Bike

Post by carlpatti »

Hi all! :bananahi:

This will be my first posting of a model, WIP, or artwork of any type. I welcome comments, suggestions, and especially technical help. I have no clue how to complete many of my ideas and so I am counting on forum members to guide me through some of the tough parts. I am working in Rosetta and so I am limited to workspace side only. (Thanks to Carl, my Creative Consultant.)

Okay - let's go!
******************************************
Lester Moore, in the year 4221 G.D., started his company, The Rides Stable with the idea of providing fast and efficient transportation to an already mechanized world.

Although his "rides" were successful in getting people around quickly and efficiently, the destination they arrived at was not their desired destination.

In a time of futuristic perfection, this became a popular idea.

Surprisingly, people were willing to pay a lot of money for such a novel experience.

Thus, the grand success of The Unstable Ride Company.

One of the company's most popular rides was the Bouncing Bunny Bike. It was guaranteed to get you to a surprise destination in an unpredictable amount of time.

Here are pictures of the Bouncing Bunny Bike prototype developed by the soon-to-be Sir Lester Moore.

Carlpatti, that is a great story for your bike. Funny too. Impressive for an early modeling effort and interesting.

hi jamesmc, Finis, Steinie, Breech Block, and marcel, :bananahi:

thank you SO much for your very kind words. it means so much to me - really - it does!

i have worked very hard on this model. i must give almost all modeling credit to Jack Edwards and his Workspace Organics Course. By actually working through the tutorial step-by-step instead of just watching it i learned many good techniques for modeling, workflow and learning to see things in 3 dimensions. i was really wasting my time until i completed the tutorial. Thanks Jack! (if you ever read this forum...) :worship:

i do intend to finish my Bouncing Bunny Bicycle. i don't know if i have a chance in he** (heck) of coming in under the deadline. i have so much to learn. eventually i want to animate the Bouncing Bunny Bike. i want to test whether my theory of the offset rear wheel hub actually makes the bike bounce. i suspect it will.

i have a lot of work to do. luckily i eat, sleep, and dream of things 3D - i am obsessed! i love 3D modeling!!!

Again - many, many thanks for your enthusiastic response,
patti :D

oh, marcel - this bunny is a very sweet GIRL bunny - no worries! ;)

thanks again for all your kind and encouraging words, pugman 1, Tommy, and Rhino169 (and Johny too). :bananahi: (and everyone else who posted!)

i had hoped to have something new to show by now but i have run into roadblocks (in a bike race, what else? - haha) that have stopped me in my tracks. so i just wanted to check in to say thanks to all of you who have given me encouragement. every direction i try has a problem. but i will not give up! i am determined to complete this Bouncing Bunny Bike. My family may not have their gifts wrapped this Christmas. We may not have a turkey dinner. We may not have groceries... but i will not give up! really though, i am having a great deal of FUN!!!

i hope you don't mind if i say this once again - I LOVE 3D MODELING!

the best part is - i think we ALL love 3D modeling.

i will post again as soon as i have something NEW to show... thanks for your support!

Yeah, never give up!
Modeling is so good, that kind of sensation you want to feel every time, it's addictive!
You say you are a newbie , but you can't be! Well, god... WTF, how you did it so??? It's so perfect, symmetrical and oh, cute
You get the gift! Now use it, learn and practice! If you really want, you will reach. And the way things go, fast! REALLY FAST! But just if you have perseverance and will.

Keep the great work!

PS: Remember my first tries? That I posted at the Before and After thread... Now you can see how good you are, it's like you started the marathon just now but is already at the 10 km! :geek:

hi everyone! :bananahi:

i have a couple of questions about the contest.

does the background image have to be something i have created or photographed or can i use a photo found on the internet?

post-processing in a paint program is allowed. would i be allowed to paint details into the scene that i might not be able to model yet - either because i do not know how to do it yet or because the deadline is fast approaching and i do not have the time?

i want to follow the rules but i have ideas that i am finding hard to complete - impossible actually... i thought i should clarify what is acceptable.

thanks!

thanks once again to all who responded to my bouncing bunny bike - tahnoak, leonRegis, steinie. and everyone else who took the time to help and suggest ideas.

:worship: very special thank you to pugman, who had infinite patience with me while we were in pugmanspace together, teaching me how to use Jack Edward's constant shader. i was very slow to learn and pugman had the patience of a born teacher. i did not even notice until today that pugman has his own entry in the MMC and was still willing to help me with my own bouncing bunny bicycle WIP. very cool! :worship:

good luck to all who entered the MMC - please remember to vote!
