Re: V RAY stand alone
There is, it is good, but you want this to use in what software? First you need to know if it supports V-ray standalone and second if this hasn't any special version of V-ray, like 3Dmax and Maya, because if the software you want to use has somekind of contract with v-ray, then they do a special interface and features for that software.pugman 1 wrote:Hi is there a version of this to buy and is it good?
If you want to use it in tS, I would wait more to see the development of the V-Ray Standalone Plugin, it is pretty advanced but is good to be sure.

Re: V RAY stand alone
but that "any programm" needs to be able to export scene or object to vray file. So you need built in support or some export plugin, that can write data for vray standalone. So vray standalone can read it and render it.pugman 1 wrote:I mean complete stand alone so i can render any model or scene from

You can use free renderer named Kerkythea. Its a standalone app capable of reading several object formats and able to creat primitives and lights, that can be rendered. It cannot read scene files, as far as I know. But you can build the scene inside it from seperate objects.

Re: V RAY stand alone
I have and use Thea now.. its very good and up to 5x faster then Kerkythea and is a standalone......
you can export your scenes from Truespace if you glue them together and export them in one go
it can also read Kerkythea files and materials and there are exporters for the major applications including the free Sketchup.
I also export from Moi 3d into that in one go.....
I love that workflow 10x as much as using any other Big application including Cinema 4d .. Lightwave ......Modo........
for landscapes i use Vue 8.5 Inf...also a standalone.....

rayman: how it is with a licence to Thea? i dont get it... a licence costs 154 USD but there is a download section where you can download it (filename reveals that its a beta). So using beta is free? for home use only or how?

Re: V RAY stand alone
the only limit on the Thea demo is scene res 800x600 and watermarks, everything else works and saves.
I use Thea and love it, I export from Sketchup and Blender, or as obj/3ds from any other app.
There's a lot more to come with Thea too, geosystem, GPU rendering, even without GPU rendering the interactive render is not much slower than Octane, plus its got a nice, friendly user/developer base unlike some of the other commercial renderers

Re: V RAY stand alone
About the question of VRay Standalone:
https://github.com/bdancer/vb25/wiki/FAQ"
So if you buy VRay Standalone in the future for $300-350
you could then use Stan's Code to use it with trueSpace or
the plugin by Anreymi to work with Blender.
The project Stan is working on is the biggie for us. Any help everyone can offer
Stan would help continue the future of trueSpace also. (at least for the current users)
Although I cannot do code, I will help anyway possible.
