I make out that it's some sort of X exporter, but when I searched the forum to VE was ignored in the search results. It looks like the FBX exporter except with the addition of latitude and longitude entries on the exporter dialogue. Thanks.

It is the exporter to Virtual Earth - I don't think that one works anymore. Microsoft had this idea that they should compete with Google Maps/Earth. That was why they bought Caligari - to use Truespace like Google uses Sketchup.
What we ended up with was a discontinued Truespace and nothing else.

So much effort to copy what already exists and better instead of innovating. What's the point of having thousands of employees?

Updates to version control software... accounting and legal.

Virtual Earth and Bing Maps are the same thing.

Bing maps 3D view of the terrain is gone too. So the VE models didn't work out but why remove the 3D terrain like Google Earth has? That is a way to view/tilt/rotate/fly-over the maps of real world things. It has value separate from the attempt to include models on it.

Apparently, installing Virtual Earth (Bing Maps) did something good as I was able to publish 2 3D models some where; before installing the above application TS gave the error about not finding Virtual Earth. My question, now would be where did my models get published and how can I view them online? Are things we publish (upload) viewable at Bing maps? I'm throughly confused at this point even though the VE exporter appears to function to some extent. I'll check the other post links and see if they help answer my original inquiry? Thanks.
